First I must mention that I had this dram after a meal that ended with fresh goat cheese, so maybe that's why I didn't feel alcohol so much., neither in nose nor in mouth.
Nose is powerful and rich, with this medicinal peat usual with laphroaig. The fruits coming from oloroso is there, citrus notes too.
Mouth is powerful again, sweet and complex, fruity (berries, orange, citrus) , tobacoe, and ends on a long finish, where peat smoke becomes more ashy with a little and acceptable bitterness.
A poweful and rich Laph, that I could handle with only two water drops for opening it.

N- Not the usual Laphroaig with antiseptic and iodine, quite heavy on choking oak initially, but evolved well to chocolate lava with doses of greens and feel tea-ish, polished, vanilla caramel, peppery and eventually get saltier. A savoury one with salted smoked meat and making me start to miss the famous sweet and spicy Pangkor Satay Fish Crisps. (89/22)

P- A different monster on palate compared to the rather gentle isle nose, wild and punchy fresh peat unleash with scents of moth balls overlay, the smell of walking pass the chemical storage room with deadly Dangerous signage on the door. Solid peat that quintessential tailored for hardcore LP's peaty fans. Charred seaweed that tease you with this lightly burnt, salty tang. (92/23)

F- Long, spicy chili oil, mesmerizing smokes, oak, dry with citrus tea extract. (90/22)

B/B- 92/23 Mingle well over time. Plenty of depth to explore. Bespoke for Càirdeas. Am looking forward to 2020 released already.

I can smell the burning in Australia in this bottle. So much burnt up organic matter.

With water is at least 83. Points fed to taste.
    Without is at 81.
    • Nose
      80 80
Heavy nose with metallic scents and chlorine.
Step on that millipede and it releases a defensive stench, is smells just like that. Sour and repulsive.
Burnt fields - a forest fire. The smell of soil, trees and the forest burning in general.
Pyridine is heavy here, in simple terms, rotten fish or surstromming.
A grill full of meat burnt with an uncontrollable fire. Charred meat, yet still oily.

WITH WATER: A dying flame, toffee, hints of cacao, volcanic ash and pumice, slightly sulfurous like a century egg, still got that sour scent but lesser though not so prominent.
Lapsang souchong tea, smoked seafood, baked apple and of course TCP/ vinyl resin.
    • Taste
      83 83
Strong peat and smoke, behind hides a slight sweetness. Fragrant blood oranges.

Like going to the petrol station. Diesel and LPG everywhere. You can taste it through your nostrils.

WITH WATER: Cod liver oil - thick, oily and chunky. Raisin scones, lemon buttered toast.
    • Finish
      81 81
Medium to semi mid, salty, lightly peppered and still full of burnt forest.
Rich and 25% sweet finishing. Not complex to end.

WITH AND WITHOUT WATER: Is the same. No change.
