A good drinker. And also very affordable. Especially in the French market.
    • Nose
N: oak, almond sliver, vanilla, pepper, sherry, lemon, peach
    • Taste
P: soft and creamy, lots of oak, tingling on the tongue, tannins, sherry, shortbread. Light wax flavor.
    • Finish
      F: chocolate, pepper, cinnamon, sherry,

Nose launches very sweet, sweetened lemon, orange oil, lots of vanilla, fresh juicy wood - very direct - smells suspiciously of delicious Virginoak, slightly floral, cotton candy, strawberries - really good for his class and not too weak despite 40%
    • Taste
      82 82
starts fruity, sweet, melon, lemon, vanilla cream - then falls off a bit mineral, herbal woody notes, in the background sherry with dried fruit - seems a bit "dirty" with lacks the clear line - harmony
    • Finish
      83 83
for 40% really not bad, warm, sweet, ginger, pepper, oatmeal cookies, nothing burns but for me as a CS friend a little too unsettling - for the target group sure top with 2 large swallows, he then also medium length on the palate

The Aberlour 10 year old Speyside Forest Reserve is a successful single malt Scotch whisky that was allowed to mature in two different barrel types. The Aberlour Distillery uses pure water from the Speyside region and barley from a 15-mile radius around the distillery. The Aberlour 10 year old Speyside Forest Reserve, like the 10 year old Higland whisky, is stored in bourbon and sherry barrels for 10 years. The Forest Reserve is then given a finish in French oak barrels, which gives the distillate a complex and balanced taste profile. The Forest Reserve exudes delicate and complex aromas of red apples and vanilla. Soft, mild and spicy notes alternate on the palate. Apricot, nutmeg and clove aromas emerge, as well as hints of roasted almonds. A successful, balanced whisky that is excellent to drink neat.

Appearance: Pretty sherry-looking reddish amber. Probably colored though.

Nose: Raisins, wax, sherry nose, vanilla, malt sugar. Some citrus and apples.

Palate: Sweet, raisin, malt sugar, biscuits, sherry, cinnamon, vanilla. Not much oak. Slightl ypeppery.

Finish: Peppery, cinnamon, raisin, sweet malt. Bit of wax.

    With Water: Can’t take it.

Overall: A tasty young sherried whisky for a reasonably price. Not mind-blowing, but good value and pretty tasty. Probably won’t reach for another soon though, unless I go broke. Really enjoyably, though, albeit simple.

Quite simple, very "drinkable", everyday whisky. In France, it is sold in chain stores for 25 euros. Excellent value for money.
    • Nose
Shades of lollipops, caramel and Buratino soda prevail. Oatmeal cookies, red apple and foliage can be felt in the background.
    • Taste
      Caramel, tannins and citrus notes.
    • Finish
Medium duration, with a bias in candy-lollipop tones, with a taste of Buratino soda and red ripe apple.

A nice simple whisky but I find the 12y better in this price-range. Never had the ‘old’ 10y so cant compare.

Easy going whisky for a nice evening with friends

Chocolate, oak, vanilla, chocolate, little harsch and alcoholic.
    • Taste
      79 79
Smooth, vanilla, lots of oak, maybe too much, touch of caramel, not very complex but nice. Little bit of (red?) pepper.
    • Finish
      75 75
      Quite short, peppery.

Pleasant fruity smell, mild taste. The finish is unfortunately a bit short. Beginners whisky with adequate PLV.
