Whisky Reviews for Kilchoman Germany

  1. Archer scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Successful combination of three different pre-assigned barrels. This lemony Kilchoman nose, just delicious.
    • Nose
      86 86
Cool smoke with lemon cake and lime peel strips. In the background shimmering red fruits, still restrained. Pine resin, pepper, nutmeg. The time comes honey, vanilla and caramel. The red fruits, which were initially short and are most likely due to the port or sherry barrel portion, do not come further forward.
The initial spiciness passes, fresh cut flowers come, the smell of freshly washed linen on a leash.
    • Taste
      87 87
Sweet and tart approach, dry, not too strong. The smoke spreads quickly, it is cool and ashen and carries as in the beginning in the nose with a lemony note. Sweet caramel sweets, children's chocolate, hot cocoa with cinnamon, anise and pepper.
    • Finish
      86 86
Medium-long and dry finish. Sweet smoke with smoked lemon slices, burned, smoldering wood, pepper, gooseberries.

  2. Ostfriese scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

The Kilchoman typical citrus notes are unmistakable in this malt and clearly felt, but the other barrels are not too short and have left their mark. A nice malt.
    • Nose
An outgoing, smoking campfire on the beach. The wind mixes the smoke with the smell of a nearby cornfield. Now the smell of fresh lime mixes under it, before raspberries and spices, cloves and nutmeg, crowd in the foreground. From the background, mead and fudge emerge, gradually turning into the smell of fragrant roses and beeswax.
    • Taste
Heavy smoke, paired with sweetness fills the mouth, before citrus and orange slowly spread. A decent portion of Bensdorp cocoa, mixed with toasted flavors of coffee, gradually soften bourbon vanilla and fudge. A light oak spice completes the taste.
    • Finish
Cool, slightly ashy smoke, mixed with cappuccino and oranges. In the background lime and wild berries waft.

  3. Mannix65 scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

The experiment with 3 types of cask has been successful to a limited extent, not a whisky that will be remembered -
in my opinion too much was wanted here or was it only the Resterampe?
    • Nose
      84 84
Acidic cowshed smoke, mineral and chalky, behind them green apples and limes, discreet grass clippings, meadow modeled the day before after a downpour
    • Taste
      86 86
a wet hay bale that has just been lit - a slurry of manure - vanilla and white grape must, cold smoke
    • Finish
      85 85
the smoke stays in the throat for a long time, but unfortunately not much else

  4. Schleifreak scored this whisky 91 points Member Senior

    • Nose
      91 91
Red berries such as St. John's and strawberries, honey. Fresh smoke
    • Taste
      92 92
First pleasant sweetness like honey, fruity notes of currants. Then peat. Little medical
    • Finish
      90 90
Long, finally, the smoke surrounds the rear Zumgenabschnitt
