Whisky Reviews for Talisker Select Reserve - House Greyjoy

- Whisky tastes better than it smells. This is (for me) a surprise. The second time I met with such a phenomenon (finlaggan sherry finished was the first time) Compensation in taste and finish is a great ending and worth waiting for. First of all, sweetness, but not "tweak" wrapped in a cigarette, does a great job. So far I can feel its aftertaste, although a lot of time has passed after tasting ..... Note in my notebook ..... Need to buy a second bottle !!!
peppery, cigarette smoke, slightly alcoholic, vanilla
alcohol completely disappeared, again a lot of cigarette smoke, chili, quite sweet, ripe cherries, caramel
long, smoky, sweet, very pleasant, slightly salty at the end with hints of heather and crumble on yeast dough, pleasant "mole" on the tongue.

Butterscotch. Overripe fruits, cake base. Somewhat »stinky«, engineering, machine oil, workshop, smoke, fresh herbal aromas
On the palate, buttery, catchy, some caramel, dry fruitiness, spicy heat and a bitter counterpoint to the sweetness. Smoke! Not exciting, but solid and good.
Medium-long finish with gentle smoke from the nose
Light smoke, something sweet, sea
Sweet, nice mouthfeel, smoky note, not really complex
Marriage short, sharpening
07/21 raised from 83 to 84 in summer temperatures
Strong sea salt and brine
Sweet, creamy, peaty but sharp at the end
Medium long peaty finish
