Whisky Reviews for Ballechin 2007

1 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.00 points

  1. Archer scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Very balanced wine barrel finish. Does not impose itself, does not take too much away from the character of the distillery.
    • Nose
      89 89
Presented directly with a completely filled spice cabinet: pepper, nutmeg, thyme, marjoram and a few more spices enter the nose. Fresh grapes, some menthol. Smoke. Earthy, loamy, lots of chocolate.
    • Taste
      88 88
Strong start with grapes, raisins, dried dates and as many spices as you already had in your nose. Ham-flavored smoke. Moist basement floor, somewhat (delicious) mold. Dark chocolate, nougat, freshly roasted coffee beans. Just slightly dry.
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium length, becoming drier. The grapes are very subtle, as is the smoke note.
