The nose spoke of roses and flower meadows; varnished wood and pine resin completed the landscape. On wooden boards we found honeyed brioche, Danish pastries (cinnamon, apricot), caramel, chocolate and marshmallows. The palate was thick, rich, sweet, immediately dry and spicy hot, with nutty, vanilla flavours; `Chilli chocolate!` exclaimed our knowledgeable tour guide. Water transformed the nose; fresh-cut grass and lemon, then chocolate limes and rose Turkish Delight. Later, the Australian was transported to the Florence School of Leather. The reduced palate had comforting flavours of dark chocolate, ginger and pineapple. The distillery is along the canal from the Falkirk Wheel.
