A nice drop, easy to drink, but missing that special something.

Malt, grain comes through. earthy, raisins, dried dates. Sherry Cask cannot be made out too clearly, which means that it does not appear overloaded on the nose.
    • Taste
      83 83
Mild start, slightly metallic. Creamy. Nuts and almonds, chocolate icing, toffee, malt.
    • Finish
      82 82

Hinch 10 - in the smell of pineapple, apricots, sugar cane, toffee, herbal notes, eucalyptus in the background, a bit of vanilla, a little alcohol too; in taste, it warms the esophagus quite strongly as for 43%, besides, the sweetness of vanilla oil, nut nougat, raisins, a pinch of lemongrass, generally sweet, but balanced with grain bitterness, sweet chocolate finish: rating 78

      Nose:
Here, too, I have a soft cereal sweetness. Warm pear compote and neat liquid sweetener. Some damp wood. Then immediately caramel and vanilla. Seems very creamy at times. Warm tin apple cake with cinnamon on a yeast dough. Some nougat flashes in the background.
With time in the glass, hints of raisins and chamomile tea emerge. A very pleasant, fine spiciness mixes with it. There's such a fine alcohol note inside that I've had a few times with Auchentoshan.
If the colleague stands longer, a bit of leather and cherries will develop.
    • Taste
Buttery start. Then a subtle spiciness. But all very mild. I also imagine the taste of the tin apple pie. Hints of cherries and a light berry aroma. Little woody bitterness. Instead, a little more chamomile and sweet honey. With the second sip, a little more steam comes out. Has some of those Storck chocolate giants.
    • Finish
Short to medium length. There is a bit of bitterness here. Before this is replaced by the creamy sweetness.

    • Nose
fruity notes of sherry, dried fruit, rosehip, walnuts, raisins, milk chocolate.
A typical sherry cask aged malt you think? Not quite! Right from the start there is a dirty note of rubber tires, which I always have in my nose with Kavalan with sherry maturation. This makes the hinch so interesting, exciting and anything but boring
    • Taste
gentle start, then it becomes more voluminous. Those rubber tires again! In addition a dry fruity sweetness. Finally some toffee and raisin bread
    • Finish
Tart-spicy, dried fruit and luckily something dirty again. The finish is surprisingly long for its "only" 43%

Dark straw-colored, maybe pale gold. The whiskey is not too oily.
    • Nose
      81 81
Feel the influence of sherry casks. There are red fruits. Strawberries. Then caramel and vanilla. Traces of varnishes. Some saltiness. More varnishes over time. It is a pity that the red fruit evaporated so quickly. Some spices. A lot of milk chocolate appears in the other nose.
    • Taste
      81 81
Caramel. Light oily. Lacquer. The bitterness of an oak barrel. Cocoa, dark chocolate. A pinch of spices. Cinnamon. White pepper. Milk chocolate appeared on the second sip. There is a certain oilyness in the mouth.
    • Finish
      80 80
Dark chocolate. Cinnamon and pepper. Traces of oak. Cocoa. A little more peppery after the second sip, but there were hints of citrus. Medium-long finish.

It had me convinced on the nose, though very simple, but the palate and finish are very thin and watery. Some wax is present on the finish, which was a pleasant surprise. Quite winey.

The nose in one word: disgusting. Each sip I was confrontated with it. The chemical smell from a new outlet matrass. Waist of money

  14. Highlander65 scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

Light color, like a full-bodied white wine.
Good whiskey, reminiscent of Ireland only for the lightness of the triple distillation, otherwise it would seem a Speysider. The most incredible thing is that it is a blended, before I discovered it I was convinced it was a single malt
    • Nose
Sweet aroma, initially very fruity, raisins, baked apple, then begins to feel the cereal (bread), after a while even a little vanilla, zero alcohol.
    • Taste
On the palate the body is light, the taste definitely consistent with the nose, sweet at the right point, fruit, raisins, malt, a light spicy note
    • Finish
Pleasant and delicate finish, quite long, with a final note of bread

Review taken from my blog: https://moredramslessdram.com/2020/06/04/hinch-tweet-tasting/
    Colour: Deep copper
Comments: While the high percentage of grain provides mostly notes of solvent and vanilla as expected, the older malt, while in the minority by far, does not throw the towel and succeeds to let orchard fruits and spices shine too. The sherry finish completes this with cinnamon, figs and chocolate (though mostly on the nose), for a very good dram at a fair price, especially on offer.
    • Nose
      86 86
Strong sherry notes at first with dried fruits (figs, sultanas), a good pour of nail varnish remover and vanilla. Wood shavings, ginger and walnuts. Quite obviously completely different from the 5yo on the nose, it felt way more mature and the sherry finish strengthens that feeling.
    • Taste
      84 84
The arrival here is sweet with a slight touch of bitterness, then a pinch of pepper. Citrus and brown sugar notes appear through icing sugar, while ginger, nutmeg and sandalwood bring a delicate touch of spices. The sherry finish is less present than the nose let appear, though you can find a pinch of cinnamon, some figs and dark chocolate. The high percentage of grain take the upper hand on the palate but it is still balanced enough.
    • Finish
      84 84
Warm and a bit spicy, the finish leaves you mostly with wood, a few orchard fruits and a bit of ginger.
