At first glance, it was a subtle, quiet step that did not immediately throw itself on my neck like a Velcro. On closer examination, an elegant, surprisingly lively, fruity, time-honored wood-spicy old man with a lot of depth reveals itself here. He rewards the attention paid to him with increasing complexity, expressiveness and deeply warming spiciness, but always remains clearly on the fruity side for me.

On the light-fruity, filigree side, it also looks rather light and fine. White grapes, star fruit, peach and slightly tart rhubarb, which is being boiled down with vanilla. I also find gold kiwi and crunchy pineapple, but they stay discreetly in the background. Then calm, spicy oak comes to the fore, in a cool, only minimally damp natural stone vaulted cellar. I also walk past a well-kept library. The astonishingly tangy fruitiness is in the foreground for me, in the meantime even a few currants and elderflower have appeared, maybe also a few fresh cut flowers.

First of all, a lot of time-honored, elegant, musty wood that looks filigree and shows a chic, well-integrated flavor. This wood flavor is paired with caramel-creamy Werthers Echten. Although it looks quite full-bodied, it basically remains light and elegant in my opinion. A light fino sherry comes to mind, with tart, tangy and tartarous, fermented elements.

Here he seems to me at first - if I consider his age - quite thin. That is the "downside" of this lightness - it doesn't seem to stick to the palate for very long. Or at least he appears very discreet, a quiet step. I can still taste an appetizing wood spice, and the tart, light fruit remains noticeable. It takes a few sips, then it actually tingles and warms more intensely. The flow of saliva is also stimulated - but a lot is happening now. After three or four sips, an extremely flattering mouthfeel has built up and it begins to develop into an addictive potential. Class!

Great part due to its complexity and elegance.

Nice fruit pot pourri of ripe apricots, mirabelle plums and apples. Lots of beeswax and some burnt caramel.

Homemade meat broth with filigree sulfur mixes in with the fruitiness and makes the taste quite interesting.

Solid and long. Everything reminds me a bit of Craigellachie 23.

Good value for well matured whisky. The flavours of this drum take me on a journey a long journey.
    • Nose
You can truly experience the 27 years of maturation straight in the nose. I can sniff this forever without getting tired
    • Taste
Gentle notes of honey, fruits, white chocolate, walnuts, liquorice and herbs all working in full harmony. Well layered and all flavours very well integrated. Very quaffable.
    • Finish
Medium finish. But It is so balanced and elegant that you would be left completely puzzled. Give me more.

    Nose:
The first thing I notice is a fine sherry note. Fruit notes like apple and pear and some citrus follow. Milk chocolate and vanilla have a good aroma. In the background I find some oak wort.

    Taste:
With a liquorice and herbal note at the beginning it is immediately clear that it is probably a re-refill cask. Freshly cut grass and some unripe hazelnut are there. Orange zest and the subsequent dark chocolate give the malt a fine creaminess. Oak wort forms the end.

    Outlet:
Medium length and with a little sherry influence, grass and oak.
