Nose: Nice depth of many characteristics.

    Taste: Sharp, but beautiful.

    Finish, deep and intense.

This is one of my tastiest Wolfburns so far!

After pouring in it appears that the dram has to air something. Let it get used to the amount of oxygen.

After airing you can smell green apples which brings something sour, red apples which makes it sweeter, but especially cherries, wood, grass, something of raisins and dark chocolate. I also find something of kiwi and citrus.
    • Taste
      84 84
Lots of cherries, wood and pepper !! Firstly, Caramel, grassy.
Slightly sharp, possibly due to age, but I certainly see potential in this whisky.
    • Finish
      85 85
Cherries, pepper, wood, chocolate, kiwi and green apples.

The finish remains to taste in the middle.

In direct comparison with the younger Raasay less complex and convincing. Because of this, it is also easier to access. I still like whining at a high level. It could be smokier and older for my taste, I think that would be its best. Solid 85 points.
    • Nose
slightly smoky, citrus notes (orange), also marzipan and milk chocolate, mint. Slightly sulphurous, liquorice.
    • Taste
light smoke, sweet and sour, slight bitterness. Clearly sherry. Raisins, dates, cinnamon. Tart sherry notes. Christmas spices. Red apples, icing.
    • Finish
Mainly oak spice, dry raisins. Sour fruitiness. toffee and malt.

I found it very complex, it picked me up straight away. Spicy, maritime. It evoked beautiful associations and has a nice sweet spiciness. I think he succeeded.
    • Nose
First spices, leather, the smell of a tackle shop including the carp and whitefish attractants like vanilla, cinnamon, biscuit, cake and almonds. But also a menthol note, naturally cloudy apple juice, a cozy musty note from old books.
    • Taste
Mild, light pepper, slight pleasant bitterness of grapefruit or grapefruit. There is also a sweetness of sultanas, cherries, cinnamon and spices.
    • Finish
Long, mild, pleasantly dry, leather, again the typical tackle shop smell of biscuit, vanilla and cinnamon and particles.

A small batch of three sherry hogsheads bottled in 2015 and bottled in 2019, specially bottled for Germany, was released in Alba Import's Vibrant Stills series. The whisky is dark golden, the sherry has given off a good color in the four years. But four years is a short time, can it really be possible to bottle a sufficiently matured Highland whisky in this time?

    • Nose
In the nose, this Wolfburn is also young at first, then there is the sherry, which has a rather ordinary sherry aroma. This is not delicious sherry with dark fruit, dried fruit and chocolate, this is artificial sherry flavor. In addition, there are also slight lactic acid notes, which seems to be a characteristic of Wolfburn.
    • Taste
The whisky is young and the sherry is not good. Complex fruit flavors? none. Yes, with good will one can also describe a good development of this whisky. But actually, whisky is a stimulant that has to taste the way it is poured into the glass. But this whisky doesn't really taste good.
    • Finish
It has some wood in the aftertaste.

It was the best Wolfburn in the Wolfburn Vertical - which says a lot about Wolfburn's regular bottlings. It was a disappointing tasting and this Wolfburn was disappointing too. A seven year old Vibrant Stills bottling from 2021 was really good - this is not. The sherry aroma is reminiscent of cheap, generic sherry and fails to mask the whisky's youth. It's just not a good maturation. Too bad.

This Wolfburn (like the Latitude) also gets better the longer it is in the bottle. At first, an almost fermented must disturbs, but it disappears completely. It's just still young ........ Yet another promising bottling from this remarkable distillery.
    • Nose
      87 87
Initially a nice sherry aroma with predominantly pear compote, black cherry, honeycomb, honey sweetness, menthol freshness, vanilla
    • Taste
      85 85
Slow taste development to full-bodied malty sweetness, then the oak
    • Finish
      84 84
Slightly (but not unpleasant) bitter, drier, medium length

Young and not very complex but a nice little dram for in between. Not an all day dram though. Sherry, sweet, Vanilla.

extremely complex in the nose and taste. The whisky is opened for special occasions and served to whisky connoisseurs.
    • Nose
      95 95
first an alcoholic sting, but passes. Fruity sweetness from fermented fruits. Sherry note with brown sugar, dark / red fruits, plum and figs; floral note towards lavender is very weak. Later there is a banana aroma with cinnamon and some allspice. Then chocolate, black (sour) currant. The whisky changes over time in the glass, extremely complex in the nose - RESPECT for a 4-year-old.
    • Taste
      90 90
first gently, then the 50% push the whisky well. Brown sugar and rum raisins, light spice, some cinnamon. Later (dry) dark chocolate, but no bitterness! Sweetness of fruits, roasted almonds, hazelnuts - again very complex.
    • Finish
      85 85
medium length, becoming drier. Very slightly malty. Dry sherry and some oak. Dark chocolate (90% cocoa).

The lightness falls first, there is not so much coming out of the glass. Fresh sherry and some alcohol. If you concentrate on it and give the Wolfburn some time, light polish and some leather come into play. I always have some herbs in my nose. After some time, it opens and gives off chocolate tones, meadow with caramel is also preserved. Even after about 30 minutes in the glass, the nose is not intense ... it remains so fine.
    • Taste
      86 86
Again, I notice the lightness, fresh soft tones, no board as I expected, much summery. Light orange notes with fine spices and a sweetness. Clearly sherry to taste and roasted flavors, the barrel was burned out more, even at the beginning of some sulfuric and burnt nuances are to taste. As I said all in a fine way, here comes nothing with Karacho ... rather restrained. At the start, he was clearly too reserved, let the Wolfburn then spend some time in the glass, so you get more and more sweet and chocolate. At least significantly more flavor than at the beginning, which can never speak of tide.
    • Finish
      87 87
The finish is then completely fine, matching the whisky, gentle, mild, with some coffee and chocolate, very quiet and pleasant. The sweetness continues to develop here.
