Today an Irish IPA Cask matured in a glass from West Kork. Bottled in weak drinking strength with 40% vol., Corn golden and with low viscosity.
    A very unusual bottling.

When you first smell it, a very flowery and sweet note, unusual and different. Jasmine, lavender, blossom honey, wax paper, grape sugar, lime. The aromas are very soft and lovely. Would I have recognized it blindly as whiskey? I'm not sure, but I can see a connection to an IPA.
    • Taste
      82 82
Sweet on the palate, elderflower, black currants, a little mint, grapefruit and slightly astringent. There is also a trace of beer wort and a little sharpness reminds you that you have a whiskey in your glass. Once you have overcome your first amazement at the unusual taste, you can definitely see the nice side of enjoyment.
    • Finish
      80 80
Short to medium finish, with fruity beer wort and lots of floral notes. On the fruity side, pomelo, quince and green pear.

It is not clear what exactly the additional aging in IPA barrels gave the whiskey. Perhaps the chemical shades of "Yuppie"?! In any case, this is a fairly ordinary blend.
    • Nose
Instant drink "Yuppie", nuts, candy "Korovka".
    • Taste
Chemical fruits and berries with sourness, cocoa, tannins.
    • Finish
Medium length, with a taste of chemical berries and fruits.

getting used to. Don't have to drink.

Glenfiddich IPA is several times better.

      Fruit puree, barley and flowery.
    • Taste

Gerstig... weirdly sour, weirdly sweet. Something cheap. Liqueur. Still, he has something. Ipa maybe something, hops yes...possibly a bit exotic yes...
    • Finish
      77 77
      barley

Very floral, plant-based. Definitely not. Maybe some fruit. Pretty sweet. Light. Later on more citrus.
    • Taste
      82 82
Then a lot of plants, herbs and flowers. Tea. Some vanilla. The flowers closest. Light. A trace of spices.
    • Finish
      78 78
Flowers again. A bit of bitterness later. Lots of spices at the beginning. Medium-short.
