Ralfy scored this 92! So high expectations!

ok, it´s a sherry bomb but I can see what intrigues Ralfy. It´s the umame that is really evident here. Bet he´s a lover of a good steak! ;-)
As for fruit we have the expected raisins and prunes but thetre´s also a big load od cherry juice, orange juice (the cheap one made from concentrate)
leathery notes, damp earth, hints of violet pastilles, raw beef, blood, beef stock, sun dried tomatoes. Dunnage warehouse. Hints of pine sap.
It´s really a complex whisky with even some honeyed notes behind all the meaty smells. I guess I could nose this one until tomorrow morning!
      A great nose indeed

I´m not the biggest fan of strongly sherried whiskies but this is damn good. But I need water although 52.7% normally is not a real assault. But this one is real strong and hot at this ABV.
with a few drops of water: dried fruits galore, the cherries are gone and it´s not as savoury as the nose suggested. It´s very steady in it´s sherry appearance, very substential but not as complex as on the nose. much more spices than on the nose, mostly caraway and cloves, i´d say.
    • Finish
      88 88
The finish is shorter as I would have expected, slightly dry and very clean

amazing whisky if you like heavy strong 'dirty' flavours. i loved it! This isn't a daily dram...
improves with time in the glass, and if you like, some water.
    • Nose
walnuts, dried fruits, dark chocolate, bit of dusty attic, meaty, little or no peat. Such an amazing nose. Very very nice. Fantastic.
    • Taste
Waaaw. SherryBOMB alert. Leather, black bitter chocolate, sweet & sour, packs a real punch this one.
      lot's of evolution
    • Finish
Sherrybomb galore. Nice & sticky. Great! Just f'in great. Too bad i can't replace it! :0) though there's other sisters to this great cask.

difficult to not add water and difficult to appreciate it
once water was added.. the nose is truly magnificent, though!
    • Nose
      90 90
Strong, red wine, blood oranges, with the accent on blood, cherries and grapes and sultanas.. plums, blueberries.. caramel and frosted goodies.. black moroccan tea with mint, candy and the anticipation of Christmas
    • Taste
      87 87
Sour, aggressive even with water, hot peppery.. a feisty one.. waves of cinnamon, vanilla.. cherry liqueur.. bitter herbs and camph0r.. an old man’s cough recipe
    • Finish
      87 87
The spice and the dry oak dance together for a long time .. the mouth taste receptors feel utterly devastated

    • Nose
Blackberries, dark dried fruits, black currants, dried herbs, wild berry jam, cinnamon, earth, nuts, wood
    • Taste
Forest berry jam, dark dried fruits, nuts, all kinds of spices, dark chocolate, wood

Deep dark. Smell of rhubarb / multivitamin tablets, sherry. Taste: intense, stormy, long finish, quite tasty, but I prefer older ones, sweetness, somewhat artificial, not again.

Wow! This Edradour is a league in itself. But also very demanding. At the first
Smelling (first dram) I almost turned my stomach around, it smelled so strongly of meat, blood and salt. Then in the mouth the darkest sherry notes, umami, raisins, warm car tires. Krasser syrup! The finish liquorice similar and dusty. There is a lot of sherry left. Great! That's real work but it rewards you too.

Second Dram: The impression remains the same, not quite as extreme. Nice whisky.
