ok, it´s a sherry bomb but I can see what intrigues Ralfy. It´s the umame that is really evident here. Bet he´s a lover of a good steak! ;-)
As for fruit we have the expected raisins and prunes but thetre´s also a big load od cherry juice, orange juice (the cheap one made from concentrate)
leathery notes, damp earth, hints of violet pastilles, raw beef, blood, beef stock, sun dried tomatoes. Dunnage warehouse. Hints of pine sap.
It´s really a complex whisky with even some honeyed notes behind all the meaty smells. I guess I could nose this one until tomorrow morning!
A great nose indeed
I´m not the biggest fan of strongly sherried whiskies but this is damn good. But I need water although 52.7% normally is not a real assault. But this one is real strong and hot at this ABV.
with a few drops of water: dried fruits galore, the cherries are gone and it´s not as savoury as the nose suggested. It´s very steady in it´s sherry appearance, very substential but not as complex as on the nose. much more spices than on the nose, mostly caraway and cloves, i´d say.
The finish is shorter as I would have expected, slightly dry and very clean
