Whisky Reviews for Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 2001 TWf

Probably intended to seduce Chinese businessmen, 'Ti Girl' is an intriguing combination of Macallan, Highland Park, Glenrothes and Glenturret. Blended at birth and matured for 17 years in a sherry butt, the complex nose unfolds with orange peel, thyme and wood spices. Lime juice, cane sugar and raspberries appear. The palate is sweet and aromatic, emphasizing notes of dates, jelly babies and dark chocolate. Faint hints of peat whisper in the far distance. Emerging mint, cloves and Brazil nuts linger in the dry and spicy finish. Look Edrington, this is whisky!

I have tasted some blends of Macallan and Glenrothes before and they have been very good, so it was with pleasure I looked forward to this one.
Lovely nose where the cardamom scent comes first followed by citrus, oranges and vanilla.
Find the same again on the taste along with confectionery and marzipan soaked in brandy.
The sweet and loving aftertaste lingers on for a long time and leaves a feeling that the sample I have received is far too small.

This is a highlight tonight and I thank Peatbogger for the sample.

    Yummness factor 90

Ti Girl, strange name for a whisky.
As Slainte Mhath says it's to lure Japanese business men like a Siren.
I liked this very much, a good concoction.

      Lots of fresh red apples.
A nice sherry nose and it's quite potent, stewed fruits, strawberry jam, wine gum sweets, especially the red ones.
Seen as this is a vatted malt the mix is very good.
    • Taste
      89 89
This has an unusual flavour to it.
      It's sweet with a kick.
It feels hot on the back of the throat but it's not unpleasant, quite the opposite.
It doesn't feel like your normal spice.
I'm not a fan of overly sweet whisky, this is borderline and, just, just keeps it right.
      Lots of tangy sherry notes.
    • Finish
      89 89
As I said that kick at the back of the throat stays there for an awfully long time and very slowly melts and fades downward.

Thanks to anthony_holland for gifting the bottle, and to Slàinte Mhath for sharing and re-gifting the bottle itself.
It's even signed by Mona Ho!

It's a good whisky so I would have been pleased if I had bought this at it's original price, but asking €1150? C'mon, that's ridiculous!
Forget the Macallan, just mix up some remains of Highland Park, Glenrothes, Glenturret and print out the Ti-Girl label yourself. It will save you €1000 that you'll never find in the bottle.

When first opening the bottle I got a distinct feeling of Glenmorangie Original from this one.
I was obviously wrong, and now that the bottle have been sitting at about 1/3 for a few months I feel it has become richer and deeper.
Very nice rich sherry notes. Blood orange.
Quite sophisticated and very pleasant to nose.
    • Taste
      91 91
Sweet from arrival and all the way through.
This is a posh pour for those with a sweet tooth.
      Sherry, dark berries, chocolate.
Very little, or no spice to talk about. Just the right ABV for this kind of dram.
    • Finish
      88 88
It kind of slides elegantly into the finish.
The notes of the body just fades and it gets some nuts and a mint leaf at the end.

Tasting notes based on blind sampling:

Conclusion: Mysterious odor, essense of wood and plants, sweetness is not the focus, kinda reminds me of cough syrup, cannot precisely pinpoint, although similar to a Glenmorangie, but chances are high that it is a blend, what the hell is it?
    • Nose
Stinging scent right off the bat, juniper, herb liquer.
    • Taste
Apparently strong alcohol immediately dissolves, young oak, woodruff, camomile.
    • Finish
Short as perceived with the nose, juniper re-appears, hawkbit.
