Cameron is up first with an old blend destined for an international release. This is a blend of Glenfarclas, Glenlivet and Invergordon. Some of the whisky had fallen under 40% abv. The Invergordon beefed it up a little. 3 years ago the concoction was thrown into a sherry hogshead for marrying.

N: A soft chalky & fusty, beautifully aged spot-on nose [89-90 point category].
T: I love this style. It’s not too complex but sits just right. A little thin but the Invergordon certainly provides body and helps with the cohesion.
F: The grain remains solid. Vanilla barley cream finish and barley sugar at the death.
C: Decent old blend, due to be priced around £130-50.

In the tasting it was already told that barrels were brought back over 40% by blinding. There were definitely some barrels over there, which you can also notice as a whole composition, in the tasting itself I found it a little weaker, but if you give it some time and warmth, then it is easier to fathom and especially the nose then becomes more pleasant and beautiful. After the tasting at home, the rating is now corrected somewhat upwards.
    • Nose
You can already tell in old age, a lot of furniture polish, woody, a bit like in a shoe factory, waxy, almonds, not really easy to grasp, a little chocolate, a little mint, spicy, it was personally too long in the barrel for me, warmed up it a little better, more chocolaty, also a little orange, slightly acidic, leathery, more pleasant, time and warmth really helps, I didn't really have both when I first tasted it, now it's really really creamy with lots of chocolate
    • Taste
full-bodied, raisins, wood, even a bit tart here, the orange on the nose becomes grapefruit, light chocolate, bittersweet, very tart, a tiny bit of sweetness that comes with the grapefruit, rather mouth-watering, yet intense enough , Age comes out clearly here, too, but also a little bit over here
    • Finish
unfortunately, quite quickly away, it becomes gentler, now it's oranges again, sweeter, almost tangerines from a can, the oak can only be guessed at the palate

My concerns were confirmed and dispelled at the same time. It may have been in the barrel for too long, but an accomplished blender has turned it around for the better. It is great art. The price is also appropriate for the age. But I would like to warn the brave warriors of the expressive malts: calm and patience are the order of the day!
