Smooth whisky with a Sauternes finish that gives it more power and aromas. Next to the Quinta Ruban my favorite of the Glenmorangie series.

The nose pleases despite the slight alcohol note and arouses the desire to try.
Here is one of the rather rare whiskys that manage to increase the taste compared to the smell. The finish is nice, very pleasant, but a bit one-sided.
I like it in the mouth very much. The other two components fall off a bit. Overall, a solid, pleasant whisky on the rather sweet side.
    • Nose
Vanilla, citrus, orange, peach, parsley, honey, a little freshly cut wood, a delicate alcoholic stinging, a little apple
    • Taste
Soft body, noticeable start, delicately astringent, sweet, apricot, orange, caramel, milk chocolate, a hint of white pepper
    • Finish
Pleasant notes of wood without bitterness, a lot of caramel, a little malt, medium length

Very close to the signature Glenmorangie style, but I find it doesn’t really grab me. The sauternes cask finish doesn’t, in my opinion, bring out enough extra aspects to this whisky, or helps it develop some stand-out character and development. It’s a very nice, easy going whisky, but perhaps a bit too straightforward to be truly engaging. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’ll probably love this. And if you were ever trying to lure someone into liking whisky, this would do the trick. But truth be told, the original 10 yo would very likely get the job done as well, and that one is considerably cheaper.
    • Nose
      83 83
It has this soft buttery note which over time develops into a vanilla – custard note. There’s white fruit (melon, apricot) and some soft green tropical notes like kiwi as well. Something gently cereal, making for a vanilla cookie note. Definitely wine notes too, although not necessarily sweet, this comes across more like a medium dry white wine, but without any astringency. It does become noticeably more sweet over time as well as spicy and very softly musky as some nutmeg shows up (from the sémillon and sauvignon blanc, perhaps?). Overall quite nice, but perhaps a bit ‘simple’ and ‘easy’ as the dessert wine mostly ads sweetness to what is already soft and sweet to begin with? Let’s see what a drop of water does to this… It does accentuate some white fruit notes, but also brings an almost granulated sugary sweetness to it.
    • Taste
      81 81
the spices are more obvious and upfront, although this still remains soft, with sweet cereal and vanilla as the obvious notes, with a light-medium mouthfeel. I didn’t really pick up a million different flavours from this on the palate, but after some water there’s clear notes of white fruit and grapes, and it does bring out a more dry mouthfeel.
    • Finish
      80 80
The finish mostly echoes what the palate brings and it’s not overly long with a spice note (nutmeg again) that lingers about a bit.

A nice starter, nice and balanced on the nose, but accompanied by a bitter spiciness in the taste, but still a nice aroma profile.
    • Nose
      84 84
light and pleasantly sweet, vanilla, freshly cut grass, sweet grapes, orange zest and a pinch of cinnamon
    • Taste
      83 83
dry and astringent of grape seeds, bitter oranges, gingerbread, walnuts and ginger but also somewhat metallic
    • Finish
      83 83
medium length and warming, notes of honey and oak remain

  8. domani scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

Varied on the nose with a nice honey sweetness, the palate and finish are largely monotonous, which makes a large bottle unnecessary. The predecessor at 12 years old had a little more to offer in terms of cask influence - 01/29/2022
    • Nose
      84 84
Sweet, honey, vanilla, citrus notes, grassy, herbs, coriander, lavender

Dry, immediate bitterness, turmeric, one can only guess at the finish, honey
    • Finish
      82 82
Medium length with oak spice, bitter walnut, dry sawdust, honey

C: Lovely take on standard Glenmorangie, this sauternes version is a pleasing light crisp-ish citrus-sweet, summery dram, perfectly suitable for beginners and enthusiasts alike.

A very sweet simple whisky with no rough edges. Offer this whisky to friends who normally don't drink whisky or to those who don't like smokiness and woodiness.
    • Nose
      80 80
      Honey, malt, fleetingly
    • Taste

It is a very unique whisky, very few things bring similarities,
but since it is also glenmorangie easy to drink despite 46%.

The interesting thing is that when you drink very sweet at first then it goes into a salty bitter taste.

    Delicious and enjoyable.
    • Nose
A slightly sweet fruitiness, which is however "distorted" by the dominant bourbon character.
    • Taste
      Heat, fruit and mild spice.
    • Finish
      Mild spice, pleasant wood taste

  19. mosschops71 scored this whisky 90 points Newbie

The best of the finished Glenmorangies in my opinion.
The sweetness is balanced perfectly by a delicious tartness.
Lovely slightly oily mouthfeel. Doesn't need too much water.

Twice as sweet as Original and Lasanta. I didn't have enough saturation.
    • Nose
      coconut, lime zest, red pepper
    • Taste
Sauternes is felt in the taste from afar, vitamin, coconut pulp, slightly sweet, spicy, slightly oily, nevertheless, rather watery
    • Finish
dry, powerful, woody, sweet wine, spicy

This is a very nice one. A little strange because of the dryness. Ginger and limettes make this a nice flavour. Not the best in the world but quite nice.
