  1. thijs100 scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

Started promising, but the wood was a little too dominant on the palate to warrant a higher score.
    • Nose
Soft candy-esque strawberries, cherries and raspberry. A hint of rose petals, as well as honey and caramel-glazed, baked apples. Some After Eights after a little while. Pretty enticing.
    • Taste
Treacle, dried red fruits and a hint of cocoa powder. Very sweet. Pretty intense spicy notes too. Mostly wood spices. Slightly astringent too.
    • Finish
Drying, spicy. The sweetness returns after a while.

The strongest side of the moth is a beautiful bright aroma.

    • Taste

Mineral, honey, cookies, tropical fruits, meat.
    • Finish

Pepper, warms, vanilla, oak, wine, mineral.

  3. Dre73 scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Nicely balanced whisky, pretty strong, a lot of red fruits and chocolate, finish a little short.
    • Nose
      85 85
Fruity, red fruits, some coffee, overripe apples, pretty some alcohol.
    • Taste
      85 85
Some pepper, a lot of fruitiness and chocolate. Coffee, some caramel, some leather as well, and honey.
    • Finish
      84 84
Still some pepper, sweetness and fruitiness. Chocolate. Not very long.

A very good for its age whisky, the finish in Port Fass has done well. Tasty, he knows to inspire with beautiful fruit notes. The distillery should be kept in mind.

The first crawl brings you the scent of fresh raspberries, followed by teakwood and a malty sweetness. Heather honey, a bit of hay and the aroma of rosehip tea make the whisky's nose very pleasant.
    • Taste
      86 86
On the palate, first a fruity sweetness, which then slowly turns into a peppery pungency and causes a tingling sensation. Again the raspberry and even some cherry, followed by whole milk chocolate. Full and oily. Mint is on the palate and creates a nice freshness.
    • Finish
      84 84
Very round and fruity, but with a distinct sharpness in the finish, which in turn is captured by a beautiful honey sweetness. Medium-length taste experience.

Without any detours, you will experience a sweet and fruity start, with aromas of strawberries and cherries rising in your nostrils. Intense and elegant. Some marzipan and a little vanilla will show up after some time. You almost have to hold back from trying it right away. It's really a lot of fun. Again and again, a fresh alcohol comes into play, but makes the whole thing even more interesting.
    • Taste
      86 86
At the start you get again presented an intense fruity sweetness, which is really hard to beat in terms of intensity. But then follows directly an intense wood flavor. The pushes right forward on the tongue and occupies the entire palate. True astringent, the whisky takes everything under control, but then lets it down again and releases little by little the flavors of strawberries and sweetness.
The alcohol is overall well integrated and does not bother at any time, he acts in the whisky with a recurring freshness, some menthol simple.
    • Finish
      88 88
Due to the intensive seasoning you really got something longer from this Glenallachie. Pickled strawberries stay with wood back on the palate. They still taste really long after.

Juicy strawberries, directly behind a lot of honey-sweet vanilla, some cherries, present alcohol, some warehouse muff, definitely no old but a young and fresh Portweinnote
    • Taste
      88 88
Here, too, a fruity start, then pushes the alcohol with beautiful balanced seasoning, the sweet strawberries are back, extremely thick and creamy, the slight drought on the tongue fighting against sweetness and creaminess
    • Finish
      82 82
Honey and Bourbon sweetness, vanilla, lots of wood, strong contrast to the nose and mouth, but not unbelievable, the fruits can only be guessed

  7. RobbievdBrink scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Obviously a port cask finished whisky. Although this says Glenallachie, the cask pretty much overpowered everything making it a hefty drink. Full on dried red berries, chocolate and caramel, bitter spices. Tasty though, but wouldn’t drink more than a dram a night of this stuff. Price quality wise defenitely something to considering.

Classic case with an interesting nose and then disappointing in taste. The finish is also disappointing.
Time is good for him and he gets a little better. But you haven't missed anything.
    • Nose

      Fruity and spicy.
In the beginning I was reminded of Haribo wine gum.
Slightly grassy notes too. Dark berries, but more towards the cherry. In addition honey and dextrose. Smells definitely promising.
But also has an unpleasant wood note, luckily only a little.
    • Taste
      69 69
Boah what's next? Not sweet, rather bitter and spicy. But the wood comes through completely. The fruitiness is hardly there either. Reminiscent of the Trolli apple rings (only without sugar).
It gets a little better over time.
    • Finish
      70 70
Dry, almost rubbery. That doesn't stay much. Some wood.
