Nice nose, melted, with a very nice balance.
Light peat, lemon, light peat, cold ash.
      Turpentine. Medicinal, bandage.

In the mouth we continue on lemon, oily peat, ash.
The medicinal comes out and adds a nice freshness.

Long finish on oily, medicinal peat.

I used to rate this one one point higher but second tasting did not confirm such a high notes.
Not sure if this is caused by time of the bottle being opened but it lost some complexity.
Still it is very good, with great sweet/peat balance, really well integrated alcohol and smooth, classic style.

    Very good, but plain LP.

    Notes der SMWS Website: https://www.smws.com/so-long-and-thanks-for-all-the-medicine

"Vivid and taught mineralty comes first. Then it opens up and the peat starts to unfurl. There an old style exoticism to this one as well: tropical fruit balms and pure iodine twist and mingle perfectly. All the medicines in the Galaxy fight for space at the brim of the glass. There’s also gauze, embrocations and a pristine seashore freshness. Water unveils floral hessian notes, lamp oil, beach wood, bonfire smoke, kippers, capers in brine and faint passion fruit. In the mouth it begins with the texture and sharpness of a lemon liqueur, followed by something akin to peated wax, germoline, sandalwood ash, kelp, natural tar extract, pineapple chunks and old fishing boots. Reduction brings coal tar soap, warm kiln air, peat embers, old leather furniture, oyster sauce, lime juice, salted fish and mercurochrome. Magisterial old Islay whisky."
