    Finally, a comparatively young, smoky whisky from a sherry keg, which does not ranwanzt with sweet Hubba Bubba - notes. Well tuned, not too heavy, a very round thing. He would like to have 2, 3 Vol .-% more ...

      Here, the sherry barrel very dutifully provided its service and raisins, grapes, leather and dark chocolate introduced. In addition a peat smoke note, which nicely plays around the other flavors. The smoke is not only a nuance, but very present, a flickering campfire with peat soil, warming. Smoked ham, rosemary, sage, thyme.

      Sweet smoky, mild onset. The smoke gives full throttle and clothes the entire mouth with warm, greasy smoke. Dried figs and raisins, overripe grapes, wood chips. Blackberry jam, blackcurrant. On the tongue there is also a spice, but it is more in the direction of pepper and a pinch of chilli spice.

      In just medium length finish dry with still hefty smoke. Milk chocolate, espresso beans, yeast dough and raisins.

    Smooth and Smoky, for me an ideal combination

  6. Malthead19 scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

    - a very pleasant CAOL ILA
    - the smoke is super integrated into the sweetness, you don't need to dilute it, it's just delicious
    • Nose
      Citrus, smoke also goes in the direction of cold smoke but is nicely integrated, fresh
    • Taste
      smoky onset, buttery, sweetness, bourbon touch, very pleasant
    • Finish
      medium smoky departure
      longer smoother reverberation

    A really good 11 year old - young, powerful, with lots of flavors from Mamma's herb garden ...
    [Color gold;
    • Nose
      medicinal smoke, phenolic, fruity (lemon, peach), honey, thyme;
    • Taste
      powerful, oily appearance, buttery, ripe yellow fruits, phenolic smoke, iodine, coal, lots of herbs (rosemary, thyme) slightly peppery;
    • Finish
      sweet, good medium length; Herbs, smoke, ashes;

    Quite delicious, you have to say. However, the amount of anise is too violent for me here. Sometimes it looks like a liquid herbal anise candy with a smoky taste. A nice change, but I don't want a whole bottle of it.
    • Nose
      first alcohol, then smoke, very slightly in the direction of phenolic, dry, slightly acidic, citrus aroma, peach, apricot, a few sultanas, unripe yellow fruits, in the background a herbal note with a strong anise focus
    • Taste
      Malty, somewhat bitter, herbs with anise focus, somewhat sour, here the fruits are rather overripe, the smoke is always present, but not overlapping, but there is also an unnatural sweetness
    • Finish
      the bitterness remains for a long time and is accompanied by the smoke, the herbs and anise, cane sugar and raisins are also hinted at

    An 11-year-old Caol Ila from Signatory with a finsh in a sherry barrel. As part of a single barrel it is limited and comes with a drink-friendly 46% vol.
    • Nose

      In the nose, maritime smoke from green branches paired with sweet heather honey. On the fruity side you can find pineapple, banana, gooseberries and white currants. There are also roasted peanuts and herbal notes, some sage and rosemary. A great and complex nose!
    • Taste
      89 89
      First, an oily sweetness of heather honey paired with white pepper. Iodized smoke spreads before canned pineapple is added. Banana, mint, thyme, peach. The combination of sweetness and freshness is great and the dram opens a firework of flavors on the palate.
    • Finish
      87 87
      The medium to long finish has a great herbal note with honey on the palate. The fresh mint vibrates and leads with a fine white pepper to a sweet end with a slight smoky note. Great and complex!
