Wow, I can't remember ever smelling such a good 7 year old whisky. After the nose, however, it falls extremely.

The nosing reminds me - apart from the smoke - of a good octomore. Ripe and full of aromas, without an alcohol sting. There's a lot of bourbon aging, but just as much Sauternesse. Salty and balanced like a Longrow 18.

A little rougher than the nose, but still very good for 7 years. A bit more one-dimensional and unfortunately not as soft as the nose l Cereal notes and young bourbon maturation. Dry and slightly tart, it is present after the initial sweetness. With water it is much rounder and I like it better that way.

Great representative for the "Campbeltown style", salty and brackish as if one was standing besides Campbeltown Loch.

    SMWS notes:

Sweet applewood smoke and smoky bacon crisps proved an irresistible combination that came drizzled with heather honey and maple syrup. Coerced by coastal components, we found ourselves amongst shellfish and baked cod with a splattering of soy sauce. Then light machine oil from a ship's engine combined with sticky tar and chaser of smoky mezcal. Water delivered barnacles on driftwood with dried salt around the edges as singed heather wafted on the breeze. Sweet barbeque smoke engulfed smoked fish followed by heavy notes of cough syrup and salted dark chocolate. Soft textures prevailed in a superbly balanced composition that rounded out with the lasting character of dried seaweed.
