I have to say that I like it better on the sofa at home than in the warehouse, with the impressions from now I might have taken a bottle with me. Exactly the kind of bourbon barrel ripening that I like.
    • Nose
Beautiful fruit basket, exotic fruits, vanilla, a little coconut, passion fruit, the fruit is definitely yellow, so an ex-bourbon barrel ripening must smell, warm oak also comes through, which is no wonder after 23 years in the first-fill barrel , now also slightly bitter aromas, maybe a little grapefruit, of course also sweet, which goes with the fruit, after some time it goes more and more in the woody, spicy direction, a hint of mint
    • Taste
creamy, fruity, full-bodied, sweet, here too yellow exotic fruit, passion fruit, coconut, light acidity, tart at the back and here too oak, but not as clearly as in the nose, vanilla, with a second sip also a little grapefruit, you can tell the barrel strength hardly, definitely do not need water
    • Finish
sweet with a slight acidity, still the fruits, more vanilla, becoming more creamy, a little fruit bowl and finally fresher with mint, very pleasant

["Another brick in the wall" tasting session - n°12] Maybe I should have tried it with water. Neat, it's very biting alcohol-wise on the palate, seriously, it could be better integrated methinks. The very pleasant finish saves it.

Grassy, discrete, a bit of vanilla and un-ripe pineapple (+ grassy side = quite typical of bourbon Benrinnes imho).
    • Taste
      84 84
Alcohol quite poorly integrated I'd say (but we're already far in the lineup so my tastebuds are not totally reliable), very biting on arrival. Then stabilizes on nice aromas that are again quite typical of bourbon Benrinnes, like acidic green candies allsorts. Some big notes of caraway are there as well, quite pleasant.
    • Finish
      88 88
Incredibly refreshing and clean, the calm after the storm. Deliciously lemony and pineapple-y.

Some may have noticed that the price list in the pop-up shop had the abv at 56.7% whilst the bottle has it as 53.5%. As Ralfy says, the contract is on the bottle.

N: Nicely aged, fruity and floral.
T: Same again, becoming bitter and pretty thick/(woody) stewed. It’s had enough cask time.
    F: Bitter and sour.
    C: A decent/fair mature Benrinnes that’s done its best.
