Whisky Reviews for Inchgower 1998 DL

8 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 90.21 points

  1. Happystone scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

First nose: menthol, solvent, what is that? Some liquorice? Floral ... rather not mine.
Taste: Much more complex than expected! (Burnt) creme brullé, hot cinnamon, a bitter sweetness, butter croissant.
The nose is now much sweeter and the menthol note fades into the background.
It takes time to explore, and after the first impression an absolutely positive surprise.

  5. Roger Chaim scored this whisky 90 points Expert Junior

Intense, beautiful nose of citrus, plums, mint, pomegranates, nice freshness - sweetness - play, menthol, caraway, anise, croissants, vanilla, in the background some pine needles
medium body with notes of orange peel, malt, caraway seeds, croissants, peeled almonds, salty
Spicy, vanilla, again peeled almonds, orange peel, caraway seeds, salty
Very harmonious whisky with a great interplay between freshness and sweetness

delicious, really like this style. loses a point on a slightly plain nose, texture. 7/10
    • Nose
fresh, yeasty dough with raisins in, daisies, vanilla, a little boiled sweets (orange and mint). quite simple, but in a good way.
    • Taste
fresh arrival, this is still a spirit driven dram after 21 years. peach rings, touch of vanilla, croissant dough with salted butter. it's slightly fruity, slightly maritime and slightly mineral, I adore the saltiness in this dram -- it is telling me this was warehoused at the distillery. now showing its maturity in the finish with soft candy fruitiness, more of that yeasty, slightly spicy dough and a sprinkle of salt.
