Tasted in blind. A laga? The nose is in any case well above.
    • Nose
      Honey, waxed, peat, ash.
      Apricot, peach, lemon. White grapes.
      Light pencil lead.
    • Taste
Pretty light in the mouth. Aqueous.
      Apple pear white fruit. Pepper.
      Slightly camphorized peat.
    • Finish
Short final on water, peat and camphor.

Great sippin whisky - tends towards the 16 but more crisp and lively and with quite some power despite the 43%.

    • Taste
Thin and watery. Peat, waxy fruits, caramel, honey and pepper.
    • Finish
      Medium length. Peat and camphor.

with water: no, I would leave that out definitely

Conclusion: Blind I would immediately tap on a Laphroaig, the salt / Jofnote is so typical or rather unusual for a Laga. The low alcohol strength takes him strength, with 46% he would certainly better. The peat is not as strong as usual. Overall, a slimmed-down Laga, as an introduction to this distillery with security great, but overall he falls back next to the other bottlings of the distillery - Too bad
    • Nose

amazing saline and iodine-like in the first nose, but very strongly reminiscent of the neighboring distillery Laphroaig, slightly earthy peat, pebble beach with dried algae, some cowshed, knotty oak, vanilla and biscuit, slightly dirty, overall somewhat one-dimensional
    • Taste
      85 85
At the first sip you notice the lack of power due to the "only" 43%, beautiful caramel sweetness, interspersed with peat, the iodine salt notes set only a little later, even a little mushy banana comes to it
    • Finish
      85 85
medium, peaty, salty, and salt, maritime with significant peat impact, but less violent than usual, here he has enough strength to convince

    Lagavulin 10 years

smoky a mix of medicinal notes and campfires, herbs, leather, floral perhaps moss, cereals, spirit, licorice, vanilla copper, caramel, sugarcane, quite away orange or citrus, wood, smell nothing maritimes

Smoky, sweet, cereals, herbs, mild, ashen, subtly peppery, for one or the other certainly too watery

a little sweet on the finish

Successful malt not insanely high alcohol content or old. The nose is very complex. I like him a lot.

Friend asked me what to get after taking care of dog and picking her up at Schiphol. Islay and CS, but it became 43% which is a big shame. Lost so much character. Nose is certainly still Laga, taste low until finish kicks in with typical Lagavulin standard characteristics when whisky mingles with water in your mouth. I prefer cask strength a lot, now you got a typical islay laga with not enough character.
