Whisky Reviews for Highland Park 2008

- alcohol dominates in nose and palate, also with water, much spiciness and wood, some sweetness with honey, a little bit boring.
- Powerful single cask highland park that can handle water. Then he opens up and shows delicious aromas of red berries and a nice spiciness. Overall, he lacks a bit of complexity. He can not hide the "only" 10 years of maturity. Overall delicious but the price is not quite right for the price.
without water, the alcohol dominates; with water: fruity sweet; red berry fruits (raspberries, strawberries); oranges; Chocolate; subtle oak; cooling alcohol; Smoke is not noticeable
powerful; fruity-sweet (berries, orange); Spiciness emerges; Dark chocolate; very soft smoke in the background
short to medium length; slightly malty; Oak; Dark chocolate; falls off a bit
Pur: Here dominates the alcohol. With a good shot of water: Now he opens up clearly. Something cotton candy, a little coffee and a subtle smell of smoked pours into the nose. All very easy.
Pur: It's admittedly too intense for me. Again, the alcohol kills everything to taste, except a wood note. With a good shot of water: Amazing how this malt turns on. At the beginning ripe sweet raspberries come to the fore, which are then replaced by wood, chocolate and a subtle smoke. Of course, when he's ten years old, he's not terribly complex, but this taste of dark chocolate with dried raspberries during a BBQ is just great.
The finish is short to medium, also pure. With a good dash of water: The wood notes remain lying on the tongue (did not think that American Oak is capable of) and the aftertaste of really good dark chocolate with a little pepper left a satisfied feeling.
