Uncorked a good 5 months ago. Very positive development. I am thrilled, especially where I would not have expected such tasty stuff for the price I paid (27.86 to 0.7 L).
    • Nose
      90 90
Earthy at first, old wine barrels with a little sulfur, characteristic "muff" tone for earlier Jura bottlings. Complex fruitiness with plums, cherries and wild berries if left in the glass for a while. Then also vanilla, caramel and a little honey - very interesting and varied.
    • Taste
      91 91
round, tasty, quite complex and clearly stimulating the flow of saliva, very pleasant mouthfeel. Lots of berries and plums, then some oak spice - extremely tasty
    • Finish
      90 90
good medium length, everything is found again, what the nose and palate promised - at the end it becomes a bit spicier and drier

It deserves its 86 points for being a good, solid whisky. In the Nose I mostly got fresh fruit, which then slowly went into a more savoury direction. Everyone online says cherries, but I really don't think so, it's more of pear and quince at first, but also the dark forest fruit that were promised. Also grapes, which get progressively more raisin-ish. It's like smelling the grapes while they dry..
On the palate you can once again find fruity notes, the alcohol is well balanced.
Sweetness and wood lingers for a medium-length finish.
I tasted it outside, so maybe my notes indoors would be different, nonetheless I enjoyed this a lot.

People tend to dismiss Jura too easily. This expression is surprising multi-layered. Taste it first and you get a pleasant hint of smokeyness, leave it for a few minutes and it opens up with a fruit cocktail that is hugged by a smoke layer. Should have picked up more when I was still a busy air traveller...
