    1 oz sample.

A whisky very indicative of the times. I used to get “good enough, rather than best” on my report cards as a kid. I’ll slap that tag on this dram. It cannot be better than 4 years old. It’s a total hot mess, and yet someone said, we need a release and we are fresh out of everything. Hey! How about we finish that 3 year old in a wine cask for a year and call it “fruit basket”. Don’t put an age statement on it either, no one will know the difference. I’m sorry but to me this belongs no where near a decent malt score. 1oz was plenty for me. Next!
    • Nose
      72 72
A very hot nose, a wall of white pepper and rubbing alcohol. Behind it some strawberry jelly, screaming for water. With water it becomes softer, but still unimpressive.
    • Taste
      76 76
Palate is better than the nose, but still very hot. Lots of white pepper, rather harsh alcohol burn. But past that red fruits in jam form, herbs and milk chocolate. With lots of water it becomes overly sweet, syrupy.
    • Finish
      74 74
White pepper, hot alcohol, fruit syrup (strawberry, raspberry, cranberry) vanilla. With water artificial strawberry syrup, becomes astringent as well.

Weird, but tasty. Especially if you like sweet fruity whiskies, or if you like brandies for that matter. I like that there’s more than just fruit on the palate. The letdowns for me are that the finish is rather short and the texture is quite thin. Then again, this might have been just way, way too syrupy if the texture was any thicker. So that might actually work in this dram’s favour. This’d be fun to pour as a digestif instead of a port or something. Neat stuff.

Nose: Wet cask confirmed. This is probably the fruitiest nose I’ve ever come across. Like, this could pass for a fruit brandy. Fruit punch, fruit syrups, pear, grapes, cherries and more, all mixed together in a giant cocktail of plant genitals. Lychee and Asian pear, too. Looking past the fruit (with difficulty), there’s wet barley, cream cheese frosting, and some candy corn.

Palate: Light texture. Citrus and apples up front, then the fruit mostly dissipates, actually. Loads of brown sugar, butterscotch, and cinnamon (Red Hots). It develops to more wet malt, some drier earthy notes, black licorice, and a hint of something vegetable-like.

Finish: Sweet, again. Grape soda, lemon zest, honey, and mint. More earthy, musty barley underneath.

    • Nose
Spicy and fruity. Sea spray, red fruit, honey, faint ash, cinnamon, varnish.
    • Taste
Fruit and spice arrival. Definitely a campbeltown fruit basket. Spice and sea spray balanced with honey, red fruit, and vanilla. Some youth, but balanced by a small splash of water.
    • Finish
Long, with saline, spice, and mild sweet fruit notes.

Most likely to me, this is a Scotia. This is a youngster, beefed up with some finishing. Needs high alcohol to stay in place. But it is a nice daily dram.
    • Nose

A little odd malt. There is clear wine influence, which gives it a strange plum note. There is also a salty note on the side. Hint of seaweed.
With water: More savoury sweetness and seaweed. Clear wine influence.
    • Taste
      86 86
Warm, little restless, sweet, fruity, tangerines.
With water: Sweet and fruity. Quite clear wood influence.
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium length. Loads of oak, hints of vanilla, cream and some caramel. Fades away with some sugar. With water not much difference.

A very hot and fast cooked whisky that has not lost it's spirity feeling, but rather got drowned with jam and candy.
Sure it's got this bang and this aint shy, but not something to enjoy as a fruit basket.

Just started my scotch nosing/tasting journey not long ago so please bear with me...trying my best to learn as I drink:

Nose: Fruity for sure, little bit of vanvilla
    Palate: Sea salt, nutty
Finish: Spicy and medium finish, hope it could be longer though

It doesn't disappoint for a NAS Campbeltown teaspooned malt at this price point.

Beautiful nose with fruit and a light smoke, on the palate, the malt falls unfortunately significantly.
