Good sultana driven nose, complex sherry notes, dates, caramel.

Taste, moderate arrival, builds with lots of dried fruit. Quite tightly coiled, flavour needs coaxing. More dry than you’d expect from the nose. Hint of something floral, touch of cream but the sherry dominates.

Lingering finish, a touch of a sour note. No real spice but some gingery warmth. Decent Whisky. A drop of water brings out a more oily texture and subdues the sherry notes a bit but doesn’t add much complexity.

Cool, more body, light barrel notes, sherry and receipts too

1667) Glenmorangie, 12YO, The Lasanta, Sherry Cask Finished (4th Edition, 2019)

Lasanta- Warmth and Passion. Switched to 43% since the 3rd Edition, but still a dram that riding high. This 4th Edition remains at 43%, and hoped they don't thieve it any lower quietly like the G/vet 18YO that has recently up their price on the watering down 40% abv new release, hoped that is not a scrap-y one.
    • Nose
N- Citrus zest with red plum, sweet chocolate coating on dried lavender posy. The sherry and primary bourbon, on a whole, pulled the soothing aroma out to the nose, touch of sticky caramel, vanilla, tobacco spice and resinous. Adequately stand up against the 43%. (86/20)
    • Taste
P- Taste of dry olorosso that finely slice through the creamy raisinate px of dates and plums. Spice merchant's pouch, and sweet biting good gingery heat that flows with ease. Lack layers but make it up with well balanced. (87/21)
    • Finish
F- Medium long, bone dry, nicely warmth liked the Cameron Highland's clear afternoon sunshine. Chewy tannin, weightless but flavuorful px's raisin and dates. (88/22)

B/B- 89/22 A modern dram lit by mesmerizing fireflies.

      Weighted Rate- 85pt

Mediocrity in taste, too drinkable and for an exuberant tasting, too expensive and dull for a daily dram. Glendronach 12 is way ahead of that.

Very accessible, mild and tasty. The sherry influence creates a harmonious overall construct here, albeit just an entertaining one - 02/05/2022

Soft, creamy, sweet, lots of caramel, Werther's Echte, soft plums, raisins, white pepper
    • Taste

Very sweet, hardly any spice, reminds me of a light, sweet red wine or rosé that one enjoys on summer evenings

    • Nose
Great sultana raisins richness starts off the nose. There are also some figs complemented by a nice scent of toffee. Also a light note of vanilla. Now it becomes spicy with tones of gingerbread spices and cinnamon.
    • Taste
Sevilla oranges all over! A light sherry taste follows, complemented by raisins and dates. I taste some honey next. And also berry jam. At the end nuts and spices like ginger and nutmeg.
    • Finish
Medium-long. Oranges peels from the same sevilla oranges ????. Chocolate and ginger lingers on.

Smell: orange, vanilla, honey, toffee cake, brown sugar cinnamon, high sweetness, cream cake, oak Taste: smoked wood, caramel macchiato, wood flavor, brown sugar water, ginger milk, crushed tea wine Body: Light wine body, good oiliness,
Ending rhyme: medium, sugar cube, wooden board, cocoa powder
Overal: 83.5/100, not many levels, almost no complexity at all, a simple and brainless sweet water

The Glenmorangie Lasanta 12 Year surprised me. It’s very approachable, easy drinking, has many of the classic smooth Sherry notes I’ve come to expect from some Highland distilleries, but it’s much lighter, more Summer stone fruit (like apricots). But it's also not as complex as GlenDronach 12.
    • Nose

    • Nose
Relatively light gold, fast middle legs.

Immediately clear peach with a touch of flowers - mixed care products (?!) And a lot of earth! Topsoil. Honey mustard! (Where did I get this from?) Can remember once ate a coarse / whole grain sweet honey mustard. Dill! Freshly chopped. Now some _fresh_ wood (not quite new furniture) comes through. Somehow textile dust later.
    • Taste
Very mild! The peach that has faded into the background is back. A very light, very very pleasant ginger - "roughness".
    • Finish
Butter!! in feel (oily) AND taste! Long and clear!

Conclusion: estimate 43% vol., Half bourbon, half oloroso barrel with an adventurous finish, 12 or 15 years.

Spicy, woody on the nose. Warm, raspberry, dark chocolate, oranges, almost flowery, oily to the taste. The finish gets even warmer, almost in the same way as putting your tounge over the terminals of a PP9 battery.
I always think of this as a Christmas malt for some reason, well for some reason it reminds me of that mulled wine you get at "tat" Christmas markets.

Probably a typical beginner Sherrymalt. The sherry influence is clearly audible. He does not seem so dark, but rather lovely. The seasoning, however, holds back reasonably. This makes him relatively easy. The finish then shows oak. Overall, but also not exciting for more experienced connoisseurs.
