a powerful smoke bomb - not for fine spirits, but quite complex
    • Nose
Sour smoke, fresh cow patties, phenolic cheese crackers, cucumber salad with dill, woodruff, green unripe apples, camphor soaked with camphor, leaven, chain grease on the bike
    • Taste
medical smoke, green grapefruit, with the addition of water added sugar sweetness and citrus notes - very voluminous, fills the entire mouth
    • Finish
The intense smoke lingers for a long time in the mouth and throat, dry

[March, 2006]  I had this dram during a MaRa rarities tasting at Limburg.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 85.  I took no further notes.

  4. granella2003 scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
      Quite sour and extremely
buttery at first nosing. Stale cider, old apples… Notes of
oxidised white wine. More with some caramel
sauce, Chinese plum sauce, and finally lots of iodine, sea air and medicinal
hints, bandages, camphor, eucalyptus. Rough but complex.
    • Taste
Unexpectedly creamy, dense and powerful Peat, lots of farmy notes, bitter
apples, smoked ham, liquorice, sweet pepper, getting then very citrusy and salty
almost. A very nice development towards
smoked tea and lemon marmalade, crystallised ginger. Very, very long
      finish on peat and lemon.
