    - no whisky for everyone
    - very disappointing for the 18 y.
    - very thin in taste
    • Nose
smells very flat but not unpleasant, like a 12 year old blend, no character traits or special aromas recognizable, fruit brandy or pear
    • Taste
a lot of old oak, but unfortunately the bubbly character cannot be put down, very disappointing despite the older age
    • Finish
      short and painless,
      There is no echo

Not expensive- a single malt- 18 years old ... but ...
... now tasted again in Feb 2021 ... unfortunately no new findings ...
    • Nose
      flat aromas, fruit schnapps aromas, sweet pears, apples, rum aromas (?), clearly malt;
    • Taste
Sweetness, pears, oranges, a musty old oak tree, bitter, peppery, hot, unbalanced, alcoholic - you never guess the 18 years ...
    • Finish
      short, simple finish, no aftertaste;

Good, soft whisky, without too much character, but good for sipping.

F: red gold N: slightly sweet and malty, not much to discover otherwise. G: pleasant alcohol, light body, narrow-chested, not age-appropriate - maturity delay? A: long and malty, becomes alcoholic pungent and bitter.

Tasted it twice in different occasion and that was more than enough. Not worth the £36 I paid for this bottle. Will do as cooking scotch
    • Nose
Disconcerting nose. Sanitizer, mouldy cardboard...lousy. Ah, and some cooked barley, oranges, and flowery notes
    • Taste
Not very complex yet much better than the nose. Sweet and beer-like at first. Overripe oranges, caramel, vanilla, herbs. Its cardboardy side really puts me off. It gets too bitter for my taste
    • Finish
Medium dry finish. Still bitter sour aftertaste

18 years? The number is then probably also an equivalent to the number of Fassnutzungen.
    • Nose
Subtle and unobtrusive. Pear, some apple and orange, vanilla. Behind it a little caramel and if you like, you can guess a malty-oak-sweet note.
    • Taste
First bittersweet oak, then vanilla, a little pear, orange, nuts and a little espresso.
    • Finish
Unfortunately, very short. Pear, espresso, nut.

Just. Not. My. Cup. Of. Thea. Paid €34,- for a 18y old single malt, thought that was a great deal, but really, it was €34,- to much.

Not really an enjoyable whisky. Especially the palate is much too bitter to my taste.
    • Nose
Lots of cucumber. Very cardboardy as well. Light sweetness. Cooked vegetables? Menthol. A strange nose.
    • Taste
Oaky and peppery sharpness. Later on more bitterness. Quite smooth.
    • Finish
Medium long. Dryness. Mint and more bitterness. Not very complex.

First question: Where have the 18 years stayed here? Second question: Why did not Kapitaen Haddock in "Tintin" try out bottles of other distilleries?
    • Nose
malty, honey, flower field, light banana, orange peel
    • Taste
Orange peel, honey, meadow herbs, malt
    • Finish
Caramel, pear, bitter orange, wasp-covered fruitiness. And now it begins: unpleasant maggic herb, which remains in the palate covering everything.

    Bottling this should
    be punishable!
    • Nose
      Ouch, that nose is
simply awful. It would seem the spirit matured not in oak casks but in
cardboard boxes. I even get some cleaning solvent. Hints of flower and butter,
which also cannot please either. Wait. I do get some wood. But it is not oak as
if from a cask. It is rotting wood in a old barn. After a few moments, some
fruit does appear in the form of overripe oranges. Too little, too late.
    • Taste
      On the palate, these
oranges come first and it seems to be going in the right direction, but it does
not last. Immediately it is overrun by more wet cardboard and hints of burnt
      butter.
    • Finish
      The finish is
merciless, hassling you for several minutes.
