Whisky Reviews for Port Charlotte 2004 Df

The color screams 1st Fill, but from the flavors I would have typed Refill, which I do not mean negative, a very beautiful Port Charlotte, who comes in the mouth with a lot of smoke, I like very well
    • Nose
Wow, very nice, you can say that directly, pleasant smoke, mixes with a fruity and berry sherry and the Laddiegrundcharakter, clearly strawberry, tobacco, some oak, nuts, milk chocolate, the tobacco is really dominant here, followed by the strawberries, not that sweet, the smoke makes it rather dry
    • Taste
starts smoky, then comes the sherry, here then sweet, nutty, red berries, strawberry, ashy, laddie, caramel, intense and creamy, spicy smoke, pepper,
    • Finish
the strawberry is in the foreground, the smoke is still present, warming, long-lasting, here you can guess the chocolate

Beautiful Port Charlotte which deserves the hype. Beautiful nose with spices, licorice which translates into a sweet Ricola Kräuterzucker drops in the mouth for a moment, which quickly fades to a nice sweetness, smoke and lots of wood. Definitely special in a good way.

A very good heavy sherried Port Charlotte but my taste are shifting and I enjoyed it more with a few drops of water.
    • Nose
Peat smoke, berries and smoked meat dominate at first. Then joined by spices, nuts, coffee and tobacco. Dry and tannic.
    • Taste
Punchy and thick. Smoky and sherried. Nuts and berries again. Ashes, toffee, spices. Creamy. The laddie lactic touch.
With water, the nose is coastal and lemony, reminding me of a few Port Charlotte from 2001. Palate is less thick, more gentle.
    • Finish
Long, smoky, dark chocolate and berries sweetness, pepper.

If I had a young sherry-barreled Islay-Sherry-smoker without an age indication on hand, I'd like to feel it directly against it, even though it would probably be a little unfair on account of the presumed age difference. But if the color is already darker with such young stuff than with a malt matured for 14 years - one would like to suggest age through color - then one would probably like such a comparison.
From memory, I would say that this sherry PC is a large number of the aforementioned whisky loose in the pocket. Nothing tastes good here, the sherry barrel had enough time to do a fantastic job.

Oh yeah, sherry and PC smoke, what a wicked cool combination. The smoke is slowly curling towards the sky, because soon someone should stir up a little the peat fads ... No, that fits so well. Low-key smoke, mild sherry influence, but together a bomb combination. Wild berries, blueberries, red grapes and raisins. Seasoning of dry bacon. An open spice drawer with a scent of nutmeg, cloves and marjoram. Hot cocoa, freshly roasted coffee beans, grated almonds.
    • Taste
      91 91
Stewed peat soil - and probably added a little wood, which has just caught no fire. Peat smoker than in the nose, dry and pleasant woody onset. Carried on a wooden tray: wild berries, blackberries, red grapes. Nutmeg and a pinch of pepper. Chili chocolate. There is now tinder in Kiln, on the tongue, he really turns up. Fat and meaty.
    • Finish
      90 90
In the end, smoke, spices and berries remain, and pleasingly long and pleasantly dry.
