Whisky Reviews for Hazelburn 21-year-old

- This was the best 2019 open day bottling, very smooth and long in the mouth... Definitely a class of its own, but when we came back into the shop after our Distillery tour it was sold out... Bad luck but such is life. Not cheap for 250£ but ignoring the price it was very very good, for me one of the best hazelburn ever tasted.
- Well balanced, great nose, good aftertaste. 22.5-22.5-22.5-22.5
an iodized side, a waxy side, a meaty meat side and a candied fruit side on well-ripe fruits!
a vanilla return
wood and fresh hazelnuts in addition to a return of smoke
iodized, saline, spicy on pepper
fruits cooked on grapes, pear, buckwheat, mandarine and peach confit,
malt that oozes,
slightly dry wood and cooked bitter almonds too
dark chocolate in the end
the vinous sensation also a bit singular
dry wood, almonds, iodine, fruit cooked a little rotten, meat also for a final from medium to long, but intense!
- For me, one of the gems of the 2019 Open Days
N: Lovely and fruity, soft, husky dry sherry malt.
T: A soft/slightly faded yet also fairly concentrated/recently ‘pumped’ bottling, the result of which is not too shabby. Taste-wise, predominantly toasted husky dry quince < < firm sherry vibes. Thankfully the direct sherry action subsides.
F: Soft & humming with a waxy silky mouthfeel after a toasted dry huskiness.
C: Very sherried well-aged whisky and therefore rather tasty. I’m glad I didn’t pounce on a £250 bottle but it is the nicest 21yo sherry Hazelburn I’ve ever had.
