Whisky Reviews for Coleburn 1965 GM

2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.50 points

  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

The nose is very closed of this Coleburn, the palate has a fruity punch though, with lots of lingering bitter-sweetness. Bottled at the end of the 1980's/early 1990's, so 25 years + of maturation.
    • Nose
As often with these old map label bottles, the nose starts quite astringent with lots of resinous and mustardy notes. Green olives and mushrooms. Wet stones and some leafiness as well.
    • Taste
Now much more on citrus fruit; lemon zest and orange peel. Kiwi fruit and lime. Bitter-sweetness of grapefruit. Roasted almonds at the background.
    • Finish
Long with slightly sourness. A little ginger and clove. Pine at the end.

Not sure about the nose but I like the pallet, which while a little difficult has plenty of power and spice to keep you interested.
