Aroma is crisp and clean, carrying a profile that reminds me of a bonfire at the beach; Palate has more of a saline kick, but hits the same minerally and lighter sweet notes that make this so interesting; Finish is my favorite part melding the malty, sweet and minerally notes together.
    • Nose
Malt, vanilla, minerality, smoke, graham, herbal, honey, saline and coastal notes.
    • Taste
Malt, vanilla, minerality, smoke, orchard fruit, vanilla taffy, honey and saline.
    • Finish
Long -> Smoke, malt, minerality and fruit.

    Color: Ardbeg - 2019 - OB, Supernova 2019, Ex-Bourbon Casks, Committee Release - 53.8%
    Pale gold
Strong lemon aromas combine with vanilla to form a fine cream. The seasoning is carried by salt and the phenols are well submerged. Peat, leather, fine wood, cardboard, lots of minerality and quite well balanced - without outliers up or down.
Salty, spicy and quite voluminous starting! Chili, paprika, cayenne pepper, sea salt, cardamom, red peppercorns and a good peat content with matching phenols. Subterranean "weakly perceived" fruit notes. Vanilla and honey are present from the start. The hot peat lasts a long time and then becomes drier and ashier towards the finish.
Long - the fruit is now better and leaves sweet aspects. Vanilla, apple, coal and very maritime towards the end. Without a false tone and getting drier.
The Supernova series is absolutely incomparable. After the straightforward first bottlings, the somewhat too sweet 2014s and 2015s, the way is different again - better!

a good start in the aroma, confident taste, but the finish spoiled the evaluation of this release a little ... I expected more vivid impressions from it ... Ardbeg Traigh Bhan makes much more vivid impressions for my receptors
    • Nose
      92 92
all derivatives of smoky-peaty shades: smoldering peat, coals from a fire, ash, soot from a steam locomotive ... but everything is round and balanced ... notes of iodine and sea breeze ... the easiest sweetness of toffee ... menthol-salted caramel...
    • Taste
      89 89
the taste repeats aroma in almost all nuances
    • Finish
      87 87
not as multifaceted and long as you originally expected, but still at a good level ...
