This Springbank knows how to please. Excellent matured, complex and easy to drink. Really excellent.
    • Nose
      91 91
Voluminous, dense, fruity sweet and very aromatic in the glass. The different flavors are strongly interwoven and hardly separable. The old age is very good for this Springbank!
Overripe pear, quince, fermented yellow fruit. After a while also a little lemon and orange peel. Smoke is no longer perceptible as such, but has been transformed into savory and spicy aromas - I find furniture polish, wax, light solvent, some shower foam and beautiful spice from the wood. The "dirty smell" often known by Springbank I can not find in this bottling. The alcohol stings slightly in the nose.
    • Taste
      90 90
Oily, full, sweet yellow fruits, light smoke, very spicy, wax, furniture polish, a little oak and some coffee.
    • Finish
      91 91
Full and long. Creamy, mouthfeel, beeswax, the sweet, overripe fruits together with cappuchino. After the second gorge a bit bitter - espresso and maybe some salt.

It's overall well done even if anise and mint are not part of my favorite palette.
    • Nose
We first have a compote of yellow fruits then the nose is gradually moving towards a more aniseed and mineral profile. There is still a gourmet side (sugar and caramel)
    • Taste
      Well integrated alcohol.
There are fruits (especially oranges), woodiness and anise. Overall dry mouth.
    • Finish
Return of yellow fruits, orange and always present this minty and aniseed side.

    • Nose
      91 91
Very nice smell, very good; bright and clear, not "dirty" at all, not sulfur, not mixed; fresh, slightly sour, orange, yellow fruit, citrus, orange, honeydew melon, then Green melons, fresh cucumbers, especially fresh and tender, have a very natural and fresh flavor; peat smoke is weak, mixed with wooden barrels and some leather, soil, moss after rain, smashed leaf juice. Very rich and varied, a flavor expression that most lovers will like.
    • Taste
      92 92
The entrance is too oily and supple at first, the first touch of the lips and tongue is the feeling of stewing with honey syrup and fruit, so sweet! It's really hard for me to imagine that Genting has such a sweet feeling. At the same time, he is not a simple sweet water that is dull and boring, but has enough thickness and richness that is resistant to tasting; the more mature dark fruits begin to show, and the woody texture Compared with peat, it will increase the smell. The mineral and grainy feeling that is common in Genting, I did not make up for it in my own attempts, because its extremely comfortable oily feeling, like smooth juice, I almost feel it. Not anywhere I feel uncomfortable. It is a good combination of evaluation and easy drinking.
    • Finish
      92 92
Very strong honey citrus, later light peat and a little herbal, and finally back to honey, bitterness and saltiness are very weak, slightly astringent tannins, you can drink more without killing the finish, length above average.

Multi-layered fruit aromas and typical Springbank accents. When drinking, however, it turns out that the barrel wood is a bit too dominant and the whole thing looks unbalanced.
    • Nose
      91 91
salty caramel, behind it a lot of fruits: apple, raisins, pear, apricot, banana, orange, peach, mango, pineapple, also spicy oak wood and dust, blossom honey, vanilla, cinnamon, plenty of mineral and maritime tones, oily balsamic, cedarwood, hints of prunes and dates as well as marzipan and tobacco
    • Taste
      88 88
very soft with velvety spiciness, lots of dry oak and cedar wood, cinnamon and clove, earthy cocoa powder, raisins and apricots, mango and tart orange, banana and apple, oily and peppery, leather, salty caramel, marzipan, slightly malty smoke aromas, some blossom honey , Umami
    • Finish
      88 88
Blossom honey and a bit of beeswax, rather dry with a lot of oak and cocoa, cinnamon and cloves, mango and tart oranges, warming elements of smoke and barley malt, vanilla and caramel, earthy and salty, pepper, oily with walnut, banana and apricot

A lovely and petite bottle from an important whisky shop.

Nose: fruity, mango, papaya, honey, with a slight hint of smoke and salinity. Nicely balanced without being too complex. Not sour nor sulphury at all.

Taste: nice arrival. The start could be a bit strong, followed by a sweet fruit basket with mango, papaya, royal jelly, orange peel, apple juice. It then turns to be more earthiness, leather, ink.

Finish: Long, bitter orange oil, woody, hints of smoke.

Conclusion: Definitely one of the best modern Springbank I had so far. Very well matured and well balanced. I also like it being not too complex. Some say this is too expensive, but I will rank this higher than the Springbank 25 year (OB, 2020). Nice individuality and with limited bottles. By the time I write this review, the website says there are 222 users having this in their collection (with a production of 272 bottles). I think that answers many questions.

  16. nallacam scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A fine spring bench that got a little too much from the barrel for me. The fruit and sweetness are missing as a balance, the wood dominates. This leads to an increase in the peat taste, which creates a bit of imbalance.
    • Nose
      87 87
Sweet, fruity smoke with a slightly alcoholic note that evaporates quickly.
Sheet copper, forge fire, leaking oil, engine block, nutmeg, spice brandy, oak, only restrained fruit.

After some time in the glass (1920s Blenders glass), herbal notes are added.
    • Taste
      89 89
Strong, spicy start. Strong barrel character, light sweetness, not extremely complex but very long lasting.
    • Finish
      87 87
Long, dry, clear oak gout, cold ash

delicious part - dense, heavy yellow-fruity fruit bomb - the flavor profile could also be over 30 years old - I really like it very much
    • Nose
      91 91
Sweet and dense, only minimally dirty, deliciously acidic base note with subtle notes of fermented overripe fruit, it quickly becomes deliciously fruity - heavy dried fruit - very sweet and dense - dates, figs, dried mango, orange peel, mint, laurel, light wood notes - not too complex - very nice sweet and sour balance - floral notes, black tea
    • Taste
      91 91
honey-sweet and dense - sparkling with a beautiful tasty mineral palate - great dried fruits like in the nose, gooseberries, melon, star fruit, cucumber, physalis - a light Camembert note and rotten damp wood - but only subtle and not disturbing
    • Finish
      90 90
Pepper, mushrooms, tree sap, lemon, herbs - long and creamy

    • Nose
      90 90
Citrus fruits, honey, cooked oranges, lemon zest, red apples, hints of minerals, spices, whiffs of sherry wood and ginger bread - very good!
    • Taste
      90 90
Very punchy, fruity, subtle sweetness, orange and apple juice, spicy, zesty, ginger, hints of vanilla
    • Finish
      89 89
      Long, burning, water recommended

I like it well and better than last year's bottling (WID: 124323).
Since you could think about a bottle of zuzulegen. However, the price for a 0.5 liter bottle is not exactly cheap.
    • Nose
Shortbread. Apple crumble with vanilla sauce. Physalis. Almond Tonka cream. Caramel candy. Natural cloudy apple and pear juice. Brittle. Wood Stain. Something cardboard. In addition a slight spring bank note.
    • Taste
Nice sweetie. Forest honey. The fruits turn yellow. Peach. Honeydew melon. Marzipan potatoes. Leather care. Then the oak comes along with some Springbank filthiness. Then orange peel.
    • Finish
The orange peel remains. Somewhat hinted cold smoke. Forest floor.

Great - voluminous and complex nose - what intense color for a Borbon barrel - be careful with water, exactly 1 drop tickles even more complexity
    • Nose
      91 91
Intense tropical fruits, papaya, mango, oranges, but also flora in full bloom, wild chamomile - with a slight smokiness behind, as well as salt and maritime notes
    • Taste
      92 92
Orange peel, papaya juice, fully ripe apricots, Campino orange candy, chamomile extract, a strong boost of grain before dry oak takes the place
    • Finish
      91 91
Bitter orange oil, tropical fruit concentrate, spicy wood, hints of smoky, mossy and maritime - long

Lovely. Not sour cask at all. Not overly complex, just a meditational dram.
Classic Springbank notes in my book. Hint of peat. Salty. Liquerice. Blue berries. Evolving into red berries eventually. Love the texture. Very smooth and oily.
Some Orange peel and Apples. A tad spicy to.
Not the Springbank sourness / sulphury notes you can find in these 90's casks. Love it
