Absolutely consistent and round profile. Well balanced and harmonious. A great old Sherrymalt without great surprises. Definitely 89 for over 90 is missing something the complexity and the moments of surprise. Too bad, unfortunately not bottled in cask strength.
Set old sherry that is getting old. Date balsamic, dark currants, a lot of sultanas, lots of old wood and dark chocolate, dusty wooden loft. After some time, strong-scented oranges and a little vanilla are added. No trace of sulfur or any miss notes.
Fruity and soft, lots of juicy-tart oranges, fading with dark chocolate.
A lot of spicy oak without bitterness, dusty, leather.
I just opened a new bottle: "Clynelish Signatory for Whic 1996-2018". whic.de is a remarcable german whisky-online-shop. This whisky from a refill sherry butt: Admirable. Lovely nose and a tast of fine sherry and intense organge, fruity with a litte pepper and clove. One of ma favourites.
