Whisky Reviews for Deanston 2001
4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.60 points
The first one smells like eagle-owl, but it disappears quite quickly. Followed by plenty of Find Sherry, freshly cracked almond kernels, oak, mint, lovage and a slightly sour freshness reminiscent of yogurt. Over time, dried apricot and earthy hints follow.
With water: rancio-like notes, lots of almonds, hazelnuts and walnut shells, brittle oak, jute and a trace of salt.
Energetic, sherry-toned onset of fino-arid dryness, also grass almond, salt and young oak.
With water: Rancio-like and surprisingly salty. Very almond-tanned accompanied by grass, lovage and herbaceous aromas. Later also some leather. Just with a little water it unfolds and we are pleasantly complex structured.
Long, almonds and salted raisins.
- Without compromising a great whisky. I am glad that I have a bottle of it.
Especially in the mouth he shows what he can do!
The first impression is beautiful, heavy against an intense smell, nutty, a breeze of lovage, all in all quite dry, slightly herbal, dark chocolate, the very dark, with time I find something creamy, which goes more towards cocoa, After the first sip, the creamy chocolate becomes clearer, so milk is definitely involved as well
full-bodied, short sulfur, nuts, then clearly sulfur, I like that and that goes well with the nuts, slightly roasted, red fruits are sour over it, again rather dry, nice intense, yummy
behind creamy, with nuts, a little chocolate, again more bittersweet than whole milk, but the cocoa content is not quite as high as in the nose
