with water: it doesn't need it, but it also works very well with a little water

Conclusion: Successful, like so many malts, the young malt with peat goes very well, plus the creaminess of the Virgin Oak Cask, it looks fresh, has strength, the peat is not too powerful. I would have guessed blindly on a laphi.
    • Nose
well-balanced peat smoke with some ashy elements, plus creamy sweetness with vanilla, a few stone fruit, mirabelle plums and peaches, although you can feel its youth, the alcohol is well integrated, slightly mineral, malty
    • Taste
N: well-balanced peat smoke with some ashy elements, plus creamy sweetness with vanilla, a few creamy, great honey sweetness, peat smoke, slightly mineral, even some iodine (Laphroaigh !!)
    • Finish
long and pleasant with peat, light fruits and iodized salt

Really great young smoker with a lot of strength (but does not need water). I have to admit - the Moray Smoke did it to me - harmonizes pointed with the malt character. In this bottling are still great spicy wood notes to what makes the sum of a top-malt for me.
    • Nose
      88 88
Aromatic ashy smoke, earthy undertones, freshly cut wood, a hint of pear fruit, fresh malt and some vanilla, black pepper, menthol cigarette, a pinch of clove and cinnamon
    • Taste
      86 86
Strong impact, tingling fresh, full and ashen, warming smoke, herbs and slightly peppery, again cinnamon and mineral earthy notes.
    • Finish
      89 89
Warm and peppery (light chilli-catch), malty sweet, vanilla, warm ashes and scorched herbs, light floral bitterness as of dried tea-leaves, spicy oak notes and a dash of lemon juice.

A magnificient look in the glencairn with its golden hue, yet to me a bit inbalanced. I'd have liked this spirity aspect to be a bit toned down. Good, but felt young. Interesting aspect brought by the virgin oak finish though.
    • Nose
      82 82
Smoke and ash on the nose, a very fresh impression with a solventy background
    • Taste
      86 86
Caramel, vanilla, some softg spices, cinammon & praline (chestnut and such)
    • Finish
      82 82
Very alcoholic going towards a bonfire finish
