What I call a classic HP nose, refined, almost perfume like on sweet cakes, cinnamon, mulled wine, peat, smoke, juicy plump raisins, possibly heather, Turkish delight, sweet meal biscuit.
After a few minutes in the glass it gets fruity, reminds me of the dark flavoured fruit gums.
Rich, creamy, chocolate, coffee, a few full bodied red wine notes, fudge, brown bread and then it starts to get sweeter and almost bourbon like which reminded me of the Pappy Van Winkle 20 & 23 year but much better but there are similarities for sure.
Some spices kick in on the tongue with a little bitter orange creeping in
Not the longest but it is refined, almost like a mild Christmas cake mixed with mulled wine and the spicy angle seems to be growing at the finish.
