It was one of four different Dalwhinni samples that I tried last. So far none of them have excited me. The look at the dates of the label, approx. 18 years and sherry cask, give me a little hope of a conciliatory end. If that's not for me, Dalwhinnie and I won't be friends anymore.

An unobtrusive alcohol immediately releases further fruity aromas. Honey, vanilla, then smoke, toffee, caramel, salted banana bread.

Pleasantly smoky, tannins, vanilla, dark fruits, salty

Pretty short. Remotely reminded me of the aftertaste of a juicy nectarine.

Conclusion: after the first three disappointments with the other Dalwhinnie samples, the Distillers Edition was able to reconcile me a little.
If I get the opportunity, I look forward to seeing you again.

The 2009 edition was distilled in 1991 and finished in an Oloroso sherry cask. The nose is light and grassy with hints of peat and cinnamon. The taste is smooth with subtle spices, malty with a touch of green grapes, and the finish has notes of vanilla and chardonnay with a touch of oak.

  9. granella2003 scored this whisky 78 points Connoisseur

A whisky that needs a long time to reach full maturity because of the cold and wet climate of this area. The barrel of Oloroso sherry used to complete the maturation of this single malt enriches it with more complex notes while managing to hold its characteristic myeloma. Tasting notes: It affects its aromatic complexity on the nose, but the palate shows great character. Spicy, with hints of cream, followed by a growing malt flavor. After a short burst of sweetness, a rich effect sultanas facing towards the center. Closed with a final intense dominated by the contribution of wood
