    Color: Old Sauternes.
Delicious dram, really great palate and finish
    • Nose
      88 88
Nose, neat: Vanilla, honey, apricot, nutmeg
Nose, with water: Spices appear, then honey and apricot merge together and reinforce themselves
    • Taste
      92 92
Palate, neat: Spicy, really drying oak, cracked pepper, apricot and orange, really strong mouthful, almost breathtaking when you finally swallow
Palate, with water: More creamy mouthful immediately, some hints of dark chocolate, still really fruity but a bit less spicy
    • Finish
      92 92
Finish, neat: long, on oak spices, orange, then slowly fades to blood orange.
Finish, with water: very long, sweeter, more on orange and apricot, a bit drying.

My kind of dram. An overall feel of fruitiness yet with strength.
    • Nose
      89 89
Honey and fresh apricot, fresh orange blossom and a hint of walnut. With water the apricot gets to marmelade and reveals a bit of oak
    • Taste
      90 90
In the mouth the apricot is very predominant, building up to a flowery mouthfeel with a hint of oranges.
With water the apricot gets smoother and the orange blossom builds up to the finish
    • Finish
      92 92
The dram builds up to heat and finishes on a very smooth note of apricot. With water the apricot mixes along with the orange blossom to a very fruity finish, leaving a taste of spice and oak

SMWS Tasting Notes: The nose – refined, refreshing and redolent – Christmas cake, orange boxes, kumquats, Toffifees and Nutella-filled crêpes. The palate – dark and sweet, velvety yet penetrating, with more oak than you could shake from a shipwright’s leather apron, cherry stones, sugary espresso dregs and exotic floral black tea. The reduced nose – passion-fruit, pineapple, rum-soaked raisins and enjoying coffee with almond baklava in an Athens street-café as orange blossoms rain down. The palate – marmalade cake, dark toffee, cinnamon and coconut – as bittersweet as your emotions when the glass is empty. After 13 years in ex-bourbon wood we transferred this into a second-fill toasted hogshead.
