  1. Allandale scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

    A slightly syrupy body.
    • Nose
Lightly oaky. Hint of brown sugar.
    • Taste
Similar to Cellar 13,but perhaps more buttery.
    • Finish
Light, refreshing. An almost spritzy, crunchy, toasty dryness.

I drank a lot of this in early 2000 as the Co-op stores were selling it off for £13.67. At the time I was a litlte underwhelmed with it, finding the 1st fill casks to have overwhelmed the spirit a little. Now I don't know if my palate has changed or if an extra 12 years in the bottle has helped, but I find it much better than I remembered. A good drinking dram.
    • Nose
This is made from 1st fill casks and it is obvious on the nose. It's very intense with tinned fruits, honey and butterscotch. There's a custardy vanilla thing going on and a hint of char from the casks.
    • Taste
Very creamy custard initially with the fruit coming through later. Maybe a little cardboard too.
    • Finish
The finish is perhaps the most disappointing bit with little length and not much excitement.

An old wooden box in the kitchen! Mash, yeast, dough, wet cardboard, vegetable oil, pickle, dill, green tomato, green grapes, yellow apple, banana, candy, honey, chamomile, hay, fresh wood, wheat, fresh bread crust, biscuits, nougat. The scent fails.

Buttery, a bit of fruit, but other than that nothing, no depth, no anything, no alcohol even, unsophisticated, disappointing and for a Millennium offering, sad to be honest...Ughh!

The notes are coming from the blind tasting.

Very nice nose: Vanilla, prunes, a touch of green apple
    • Taste

The taste is quite disappointing after the nice nose.
A bit bitter-sweet, a touch of pepper, a bit fruity.
    • Finish
      82 82
      Medium-short, a bit bitter

  6. valery77 scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Vanilla notes, ripe peaches, apples, other fruits, granary dust, flowers, lemons, a newly cut tree, new leather clothes, a hint of sea freshness. 22
    • Taste
Medium, sweet. Lollipops, peppers, ripe apples, citrus fruits, bananas and other tropical fruits, lemon peel, orange peel, the picture slightly spoils the bitterness that appears at the end. 21
    • Finish
From medium to long, smoothly fading, with wormwood-herbal bitterness. 21

Pleasant, rounded, balanced whisky. Balance - 21
      Total 85

    • Nose
Light tropical fruit and vanilla with a touch of banana essence and malty
    • Taste
Soft feel, but the flavours retain great clarity. Fresh oranges, bananas and a bit of baked apple. Hint of peppery spice buried in honey sweetness.
    • Finish
Medium with lovely malted honey sweetness and a twist of pepper
