There's a lot to unpack here, and I love how well this whisky swims, leaving room to experiment with adding water. Even watering it down significantly still leaves a tasty and interesting spirit.
    • Nose
Very intense and dense. Candied fruits, followed by cigar boxes, hazelnuts and dark chocolate, and a whiff of cotton candy too. Maybe even a sliver of espresso, but also crème brûlée. Nice balance between sweet notes and darker, bitter notes. Adding water brings out more fudge-y and vanilla notes.
    • Taste
Big and bold, this takes no prisoners. A whiff of spent matches, as well as bitter coffee notes. There's a touch of strawberry, but it is overpowered by ginger and chili pepper. Water calms it down a bit, leaving more room for slightly musty notes, damp wood.
    • Finish
More of the same. Lingering for a pretty long time.

A dreamlike Glenfarclas with a wonderfully balanced sherry note. Tobacco, espresso, dark fruits ... just fantastic and a pleasure!

    • Nose
Dark caramel shimmers copper-like in the premium snifter, a wonderfully sweet fruit note lifts out of the glass. Dried fruits, minimally sulphurised raisins, hints of tasty cough syrup, creamy dark chocolate, old caramel and a hint of toffee, the wonderfully silky sherry nose has a lot to offer. There are also hazelnuts, minimal cedar wood and dried tobacco leaves, a touch of menthol ensures a fresh note. An almost indefinable note is in the air, it could be caramelized custard with candied cherries ... Fantastic!
    • Taste
The first sip flows mildly over the tongue, suddenly tobacco, smoky wood tones and dark fruit flavors fill the palate. Chubby warmth floods the throat, there is minimal wooden sharpness on the tongue, espresso and hints of dark chocolate stick to the inside of the cheeks. The second sip flows nuttily through the palate, again woody sharpness sets in, this time with a dash of white pepper. Slightly smoky hints follow, tobacco and tart wood tones play with each other while dried grapes and berries are shown with a few grated dark chocolate. With a sip of unsweetened espresso, the taste reverberates.
    • Finish
Tart and subtly bitter, espresso and dark chocolate rest on the palate, old walnuts mix with a hint of menthol and eucalyptus. Dried tobacco leaves stick to the lips with a hint of leather and cedar wood, the wonderful humidor aroma will be remembered for a long time.

Al right. Thick layers of sherry with the clear glenfarclas profile. Sweet spicy sherry.
