Whisky Reviews for Ben Nevis 2006 HiSp
6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 90.18 points
- Excellent, seriously good whisky, peated sherry with oomph!, but layers of depth. The way I like it! Highly recommended. Well done TWE!
More distillate-driven than the last year release. Modern sherry and new oak, roasted barley, quite tannic, grape skins.
Mellow, not as ABV suggested, oak spices, dates and leather, hints of sulphur, refreshing mints, herbal water.
Long, iodine, gun powder, new oak, phenolic sherry.
- This whisky is released by Hidden Spirits and The Whisky Exchange where i was lucky enough to try this wonderful dram.
A heavily peated Ben Nevis from a sherry cask is not something that you come by everyday, and that’s a shame because this is a lovely dram. Full sherry and peat with fruit and red berries in the finish, it combines peat and sherry in great way.
Of course i had to pick up a bottle, so more notes to come...
- TWE: "This 2006 Ben Nevis has been bottled by Hidden Spirits and The Whisky Exchange after spending 13 years maturing in a single first-fill sherry butt and being finished in a single first-fill sherry hogshead. This heavily-peated single malt has a rich, smoky character with a fruity, spicy core."
