    He needs time in the glass, at least 30 minutes, then the scarce 65% but surprisingly well involved.
    It reminds me, by the slightly earthy note, of a barrel of whisky broker (Cask 1427), which was also filled in 2005, but this note was much stronger there.
    Not a typical fruit sherry cask, rather an old library where coffee was drunk and cigar smoked on a leather couch.
    I love this kind of sherrycasks as they mean variety.

      Here you have old leather with a proper patina on it, lots of chocolate and tobacco, pretzel sticks, beechnuts, a bit wet soil and coffee beans join it.
      The whole paired with a nice malty sweetie.
      Dark heavy fruits (in the form of sweetened dates, raisins & plum jam) try, but fail to penetrate properly.
      The Laddiecharakter is indeed quite overrun but still recognize, then comes some orange zest added.
      Really great nose!

      He pushes neatly, like in the nose with a lot of chocolate; the dark bittersweet fraction with high cocoa content.
      Then it gets a bit nutty (freshly cracked walnuts and Brazil nuts), plus some acidity and a slight bitter note, in addition a decent portion of tobacco as before in the nose.
      Overall, very warm, full-bodied and dry.
      The palate is really great, albeit a balancing act at the same time.

      Dry, and here also some oak, which I had almost nothing in the nose and on the palate.
      The bittersweet chocolate and the other old flavors remain sticky for a long time

    Premature rating from my side (1,5 cl from a sample bottle directly after eating very spicy food 60 minutes earlier). 88 Points.
    But my tounge was on fire because of it's high abv%. Could be corrected even more points up... it delivers quite alot and I only spent 15 minutes with it.

    (it's somewhat funny, I defend my 88.. EIGHTY EIGHT - ! - rating because its the lowest)

    Edit: Rating went up to 90. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a dram with 50% abv beforehand, then let it rest for quite some time in the glass.
    It has dark chocolate, leather and sherry to it.
    It is quite harsh, but damn, it is very good.
    I am very glad I got a bottle plus a sample.

    Powerful, Sherried, quite dry and spicy - makes your mouth water run. Nutty and creamy finish. Long and warm

    Bruichladdich 13 yo 2005/2019 ‘The Water #3’ (64.7%, The Taste Of Whisky, 1st fill sherry hogshead, cask #1002, 292 bottles) Four stars and a half
    Fudge, attempted murder again! Sure we know Bruichladdich fill at high strength, but still, almost 65% from a sherry cask! F.u.d.g.e.! What’s more, at this strength the bottlers have decided to call this wee bottling ‘The Water’! Ooh that’s smart! Colour: almost mahogany. Nose: yep. Miso, Maggi, prunes, raisins, pecans, heather honey, earth, menthol, camphor, balsamico, and just distant whiffs of old gym socks. There, that’ll teach you, bottlers. With water: walnut wine and more miso. Extremely umami-y and meaty, you’d swear they have added monosodium glutamate while we weren’t watching. Mouth (neat): weird, unusual, acetic and varnishy. That may be the super-duper-high strength. So, with water: very crazy. Paraffin, mussels, parsley, artichoke liqueur, plasticine, burnt rubber, cider vinegar, pipe tobacco. I may have forgotten to mention a few other flavours, rather around seafood and fermenting fruit. Durian? Perhaps… Or Munster cheese… Finish: very long, dry, herbal, sour. Did we already mention umami? Glutamate? Comments: a beautiful weirdness. I’m sure some pros would say this is flawed whisky. I beg to differ, it’s just very singular whisky. With heartfelt encouragements!
