This is not a typical Aberlour sherry bomb! And that’s prettig fine I must say. This is a pretty well matured whisky with that typical old skool feeling you also get from much older stuff. But: this one needs both time and some warmth from your hand, there are some soury off notes wich bring down the overall dram. Take you time, half our at least. No deep red fruits on the nose; this is a basket fresh, green summer fruit with pineapple, cantaloupe melon and some papaya. On the palate it’s more alive, but with some soury off-notes, no vanilla here and that’s the cask influence talking, I bet this is a 2nd fill ex sherry hogshead, definetly not a 1st fill.
Specially in a timeframe that more and more whisky’s are (shortly) finished in some fancy cask this is just what I want a whisky to be; honest!
Finish is quite long. And quite peppery!! Pretty decent way to celebrate a 10th anniversary Liquid Treasures!
