The nose starts unexpectedly creamy with biscuit aromas. Behind it are light, juicy fruit flavors, such as ginger and orange cookies.

In the mouth, the alcohol tingles on the tongue, and spicy, fruity notes and hot pepper spread out, which slowly fade away under an oak blanket.
    Length: 5/10

Nice, intense, drinkable sherry-heavy representative, which is on the spicy side compared to similar products from the competition.

    Grade: 2+

I've bought this whisky after seeing couple of positive reviews on Youtube and here on WB. However, I have ended up very much disappointed. It is simply 1. lacking in complexity and depth and 2. is inmature/too young, which is very noticable by the hotness that does not go away. No, I am not going to spend my money on Glengoyne NAS CS ever again. Have compared it side by side with 12y CS Glengoyne from the past. And it just confirmed what I already thought. The NAS version is very inferior to it, exactly because of the 2 reasons mentioned. My guess would be that it is 4-5 years younger than the original 12 year old CS version. A rip off on the customers...

Light fruits, honey like sweetness. Alcoholic. The alcohol is not well integrated.
    • Taste
      83 83
Unripe apricots, honey, figs, dates, too hot and spicy. Lacking complexity and real depth.
    • Finish

      Medium.

with water: becomes fresher, fresh fruit notes, citrus, but retains an alcoholic note

Conclusion: great whisky at a decent price, but for my taste a few older barrels could be mixed in with it
    • Nose
Butterscotch, toffee, vanilla, dried fruit, ripe fruit (apple), slightly nutty, malt
    • Taste
nice and not too strong sweetness (honey), vanilla, fruits, nutty, dark wood
    • Finish
medium length, strong, vanilla, wood, nice light sherry influence, maybe a bit too young at the back

Very intense and fruity whisky. A lot of ripe fruits, some floral notes. The finish being a little less versatile, but overall a good batch for sure.
    • Nose

Very fruity, ripe apples, citrus. Quite some alcohol. Some floral notes come through.
    • Taste
      87 87
Very powerful, pepper, intense. Fruity, ripe apples, citrus. Ripe oranges. Full body. Still some floral notes. Later on a bit spicy as well.
    • Finish
      86 86
Still pretty powerful, fruity, ripe oranges, some honey sweetness now. Middle long.

A solid dram, not overly complex but rather nice.
    • Nose
Quite some butterscotch and toffee at first. But also a faint note of sour oranges. Then peach. A layer of honey, followed by vanilla. It’s a little restrained, but water helps to open it up. It becomes fruitier and creamier.
    • Taste
A rather heavy alcohol punch. Then I get some honey and oranges. A citric note as well. Blueberries. Vanilla and caramel fudge. Red chilli peppers. A few drops of water makes it more friendly and creamier but the chilli peppers are still there. I also get almonds now.
    • Finish
Mid-long and stingy peppery. Mocha and almonds.

    • Finish

All in all a delicious malt, which shows a clearer sherry influence than previous batches (modern sherry profile). I like the nose best. You can tell that he is a bit younger, but the lack of complexity in the mouth.

Smell: The alcohol is not as intense as expected. The main melody is tobacco, chocolate and coffee aromas. The level is still so pure and clean. Some fine charcoal, floral, and spices are set off, and the end is some woody notes and tea aromas.

Drink: The taste is not the same as the other members of the Cornie family. It has a large amount of fine bubbles, and a very enjoyable burning sensation and tannin, which makes the experience more abundant. The entrance results are preserved and the chocolate is continuously output. Eight points are long.

Sense: I think this is a high-quality Grangoni product. Although there is no vintage, it will not make you feel that he is very young. The high-quality Sherry style inherited by the family can still be captured here in large quantities. It feels that there should be a lot of high-vintage liquor, and the taste is refreshing and rich in experience. If you love the new generation of Shirley barrel whisky, this would be a good ration.

Tried blind from a whisky advent calendar that my good friend put together for me!

    Color: Light Amber

Nose: Lots of rich sherry fruits, oily lemons, orange peel, raisins, cinnamon toast, creamy caramel, vanilla bean, sliced ginger, worn tobacco leaf and cocoa dust

Taste: Creamy caramels and dark chocolate along with salty plums, ginger cream, olive oil, tobacco, worn leather, sultanas, dry blackcurrants and roasted walnuts

Finish: Medium with more ginger cream, red plums and walnut cream

Reminds me a lot of sherry cask Deanston and Glen Garioch. Lots of good creamy and oily character but its definitely young as it carries a bit of heat but also some solid complexity with a more dense and earthy style of sherry cask influence. Overall, it's quite good and definitely a step up from an older batch I had a year and a half ago. At the right price I'd probably buy a bottle.

I've skipped a few batches, but compared to batch 3 this one is much more sherried. A modern style sherry like young Tamdhu.
