My Whisky of the Year 2022!
In the nosing a ripe whisky with fruits and herbs with a nice note of vanilla. Apple compote with warm cherries and vanilla sauce, not too sweet and a breath of air from the herb garden wafts through the room.
In the mouth the whisky is strong without being alcoholic. Here, too, the ripe fruits come with vanilla, dark cherries and boiled plums, then are replaced by a nice, dark chocolate with roasted nuts and roasted almonds with candied sugar. A nice sweetness carries the aromas without becoming sticky or sweet. Here, too, a ripe whisky from good barrels.
Chocolate with nuts and almonds stays in the mouth, a little oak, but it doesn't become bitter or astringent. Yummy.
The 15er is a mature, good whisky at a decent price that is drinkable, not too complex, but interesting and tasty. This is how whiskys should be today: good barrels, age information, no color, no cooling filtration and matured cleanly without being struck by sticky barrels. And then all at a fair price. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen that often ...
All of this makes the whisky my Whisky of the Year 2022. Reasonable price, honest presentation, decent age and a whisky that tastes good and can be enjoyed for an evening without breaking it down into all its parts. That's a good whisky for 2022.
