    Whiskyfun:
The Islay just kills, but I’ve never tried the ‘Sherry Cask’, so now’s the time. I’m a fan of what they do at BB&R’s, they have this kind of understated, slightly posh way of doing things that should inspire many loudmouths from all around the world. Even politicians who don’t drink! Colour: deep amber. Nose: concrete and saltpetre at first, then roasted pine nuts, chestnuts, and a blend of well-roasted coffee beans and chocolate pods that have just been torrefied. A very pleasant proposition, not very common. Mouth: but yes! More coffee, orangettes, thin mints, 90% chocolate, dried dates and figs, coffee liqueur (I’ve decided to take it easy with quoting brands), and touches of tarry black liquorice from some of the most extreme Dutch liquorice makers. But yes! Finish: long, superb, extremely well-constructed, chocolaty and coffeeish, with the most perfect balance. Comments: wow, have they added some 1940s Glenlivet or something? At not even 50€, bang-for-your-euro, guaranteed. Genius.

For the price, you can sometimes get it for less than 35 euros, a very good sherry bomb. Despite the 44.2%, tolerates a little water (not too much) to decipher the aromas.

Fantastic nose, with a palate that is a tad bit disparate, does not deliver what a nose has promised. Still a great thing and worth enjoying.

A blend from the sherry barrel with 44.2% vol., Without indication of age and unfortunately colored. Available in German online retail for around € 35 at the beginning of 2020. Can the dram be convincing with these requirements?
Unfortunately only to a limited extent. All in all not badly done, but the whiskey is not quite the big hit, although it is a solid basis to look forward to further batches. A few drops of water will help him get started.

A clear sherry note, marzipan, honey, caramel and dried fruit on the nose. Ripe banana, orange peel, shortbread, sandalwood, plum liqueur, nuts.
An astonishingly versatile bouquet of aromas, which positively surprises me here.
    • Taste
      83 83
On the palate, a light sherry note with subtle sweetness, which is replaced by an unexpected sharpness and herbal note. Nut flavors, pepper, orange peel and another butter note. However, I lack a harmonious superstructure and the aromas are a little too close to each other for me.
    • Finish
      82 82
Medium in the finish remains sharpness and a dry sherry note on the palate. This is replaced by mint and nut flavors. Not bad, but unspectacular.

Interestingly blended, with some rough edges and not too dominant sherry notes. Acceptable but not outstanding PLV. If you like it smoother and more sherry-style: Monkey Shoulder with a significantly cheaper price

N- Sneak preview of up coming sku. Well dark maltiness with fruit salad, then this alluring tarry rope, new tyre with strong rubber nuance that catches attention. Quintessentials sherry characters encompassing with upfront oloroso and underlying sweet px. Umami pepper, spicy tagorashi mix, burnt salts, whiff wood shaves and green tinge suggested some young cask but not causing too much of a problem. Remains elegant after the sherries mellow out, with sandalwood with minerals sits firm in the middle and rusty. Probably some sherry cask from the coastal in the vat, may be. (90/22)

P- Delicious black berries with drying oak spices, sweet and warming pickled ginger. Good weight and well filled. No sign of hollowness as often happened to BM. Superbly balance with some good cask in the blend. (88/22)

F- Medium-long, remains dense, velvet, camphor, waxy, dried citrus fruits, vanilla and sweet herbs. (87/21)

    B/B- 89/22

    Cereal- 2, Fruity- 2, Floral- 0, Peaty- 1, Feinty- 0, Sulphury- 0, Woody- 3, Winery- 2, Spicy- 1

Weighted Rate- 88pt, +1 for the good value.
