Inexpensive, easy to drink uncomplicated beginner from the Highlands. The distillery character (beeswax / honey-heavy) gets through well.
    • Nose
      80 80
pretty sweet towards caramel & honey sweetness. The honey aroma has something of beeswax. There is also an almond aroma and (heather) herbs. Vanilla is rather easy. Fruity and slightly citrusy, goes in the direction of orange.
    • Taste
      80 80
Sweetness and honey (has some beeswax). Slightly peppery at the beginning, but goes away quickly. Creamy, oily feeling on the tongue. Spices & malt (very light). Nutty (almonds) to light caramel.
    • Finish
      78 78
short to medium length. Oak, sweetness (light) paired with spices. Malty note with some heather (but very light). Very round, harmonious finish. - unlike some others, I find no smoke.

Very mild, floral, pears, malt, apple juice, oak notes, slightly spicy
    • Taste
      85 85
Nose reflected on the palate, mild, spicy, malty, slightly buttery notes, oak
    • Finish
      84 84
rather short, little fruity, slightly bitter

Aroma: the first thing that meets - woody motifs, sawdust, plywood, fragrant hay, wax and just a little bit of sulfur; further fruitiness, ripe pears, yellow apples, duchesse lemonade, light honey. After standing a little longer, citrus fruits, sweet and sour oranges and lemons with zest, bread tones and dough in the background.

Palate: Lots of citruses, zest, pleasant ginger pungency, white pepper, honey, orange liqueur, wood, oatmeal gingerbread, few minerals.

Finish: Shorter than average, bitter zest, waxy, oily, ginger, very light honey sweetness.

    Score:84

Bottom line: a worthy classic that has been produced for a very long time, I periodically purchase it. Of the shortcomings, I would note a slightly rustic taste and finish, as for 15 years of aging.

Slight sweetness, a little too much alcohol, light, fruity; Quite good for an all day

  6. DillaDonut1 scored this whisky 72 points Expert Junior

the sweetness is not strong enough to cover the alcoholic note..

my second bottle - just as convincing as the first - elegant, white-wine summer whisky with excellent PLV. A beautiful and well-matured classic.
    • Nose
Ripe fruit, banana, sweetness, vanilla, honey, heather, white pepper, then also old oak barrels, later also pear, melon and grain
    • Taste
      like nosing
    • Finish
good medium length, everything can be found again

Pretty alright, i enjoyed the highland herbs and heather honey notes.
Do i need to replace it? ... i'm not sure... probably not.

A rock-solid whisky for intermediate drinkers and an excellent choice for beginners until one or the other newbie might raise the bar.
    • Nose
      60 60
Quite fruity, I would say above average. A very light smoke can be found, but only relatively at the beginning. It flies quickly. Despite the age, a sweet and fresh meadow and other bright fruits. If you give it a little time, the age comes to the fore.
    • Taste
      60 60
More on the sweet side, but this is partly offset by the weight and flavor.
    • Finish
      60 60
Remains for a long time and is pleasantly clumsy down the throat.

Nose: Honey, caramel, bright green apples

Palate: apples and caramel stay, nice and thick but not oily

Finish: the sweetness continues to fade to grass and hay

Smell: There is a hint of firewood in the roundness, the background is a touch of sweet nectar, the main melody is the aroma of the oak barrel, as the ester aroma is precipitated, it will become like orange peel, lemon grass, cream fresh fruit pie, etc. Strong hint. The whole process is very easy.

Drink: The wine is full and lively as if it is alive. The wine combined with saliva is very chewy. After swallowing, the taste quickly swims around and spreads. The spice is oak barrel and lemongrass. .

Sense: Its smell is very ordinary and very ordinary. Ordinarily, it is always easy to find some reference objects that are similar to it. Unusually, it is still under the main tone of the aroma of oak barrel, and it can still show its own beauty, and No smell of sulfur at all. I have a lot of question marks. In addition, the taste must also be mentioned. This is the most dynamic wine body I have tasted temporarily. Its taste is very special and very recognizable. I think it's a very personal whisky that is very hidden.

great sipper, not too complex, lacking character but tasty
    • Nose
very light nose with some acacia honey, touch of vanilla, barley sugar, apple cider
    • Taste
very easy sipping, light, sweet, some fruits (red apple, pear, raspberry), ex-bourbon barrel influence
    • Finish
      medium long, sweet , honey

      88 88
First of all fruity, then heather and honey, surprisingly divers
    • Taste
      84 84
first smooth, elegant, later some spice, oak
    • Finish
      87 87
medium length, gets dry, traces of oak ,

  19. marmeladow scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Round and tasty, not overly complex whisky - fully convincing, also because of the excellent PLV.
I would like to quote Jim Murray for once, even if his 95 points seem overenthusiastic: "A malt it is hard to decide wether to drink or bath in it. Know anyone who reckons they don't like whisky? Give them a glass of this - that's them cured. " (Whisky Bible 2019 - extracts)
