Whisky Reviews for Strathisla 1967 WF

6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 90.69 points

  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 93 points Connoisseur

Very good Strathisla in my humble opinion.
    • Nose
Classic Strathisla nose from the 1960´s. Flowery notes, mixed with polished oak, beeswax and strawberries. Do you need more? Also honey and milk chocolate. Complex.
    • Taste
Rich and round. Very waxy and creamy. Almost silky. Amazing for just 43,1%. Toasted oak. Vanilla. Toffee. Carraway and cimin. Oranges and tangerines..
    • Finish
Long and sweet. Slighly spicy. Gingery. Cinnamon. Some aniseed. Very well balanced.

  3. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

Very own, but also exciting, Oldschool malt and a contrast of old oak and fresh mineral and tropical notes.
    • Nose
First moment: toothpaste, rather mineral, eucalyptus, polished oak, almonds, vanilla, beeswax, old malt, white grapefruit, raisin, fresh mandarin, old dark chocolate, slightly floral, funny, somehow opposite combinations in the nose
    • Taste
Mandarin, pineapple, grapefruit, papaya, ginger, aniseed, licorice, cedar, pine nuts, nice, crispy oldschool malt, green apple, green tea, nettle, lavender and rosemary, rose water, dark chocolate
    • Finish
Long, grapefruit, malt, ginger, rose water and lemongrass

  4. St. Pauli scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

What a fantastic nose! Unfortunately the rest may have suffered a little from the long time in the cask and the lower strength. If not, this could have been one of the best I've ever tasted. Now it's still a very, very good whisky, mind you. 22 P.
    • Nose
Very complex and balanced. This is the power of refill combined with age in full glory. There is a solid malty base, accompanied by orange, white raisin, prune, almost something meaty like leather, licorice root, eucalyptus, and sandal wood. 24 P.
    • Taste
Delicate and oily, but a bit thin. Here, the orange and licorice root are most dominant, leading to a fresh and earthy taste. Then there is honeyed malt, prune and ginger powder. 22 P.
    • Finish
Relatively short, it shows its diminishing power. The finish is more herbal, on eucalyptus. It's also mildly spicy on ginger. Prune and polished oak come ent this finish. 22 P.
