Dark vanilla cream on the nose with nut nougat and almond paste, some marzipan and a hint of bitter almonds. Then comes the fruit with ripe plums and peaches. The whisky has a fresh menthol note from the alcohol, which is not disturbing. Overall, it smells ripe and settled.
Undiluted, the alcohol is strong and the whisky rather closed. With water it becomes creamier and nuttier, Neapolitan waffles without their penetrating sweetness, plus plum, passion fruit and mango.
Nut chocolate with whole nuts lingers in the mouth, fruits are more in the background. Wood also comes from the background with a slight bitterness that gives the drinkable whisky depth. Unfortunately, the flavors dissipated pretty quickly.
This is a tasty whisky with good age and creamy vanilla fruit. It could be deeper and more lasting in the aftertaste, but overall it is a nice hogshead whisky that is a pleasure to drink.
