  1. Baanaanaabob scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

Beautifully complex and well balanced, vanilla lemon honey on the nose, herbal notes and some hints of exotic fruits on the palate, medium finish, not outstanding but still excellent

  2. XorLophaX scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

Conclusion: 91/100 points - "Once in a lifetime whisky". This 50-year-old Glenfiddich is currently priced at 22,850 pounds. Of course you get a prestige object for super rich and unfortunately no divine whisky for malt heads. Nevertheless, it was an honor and an experience to taste this noble drop. A true "once in a lifetime" whisky. Thanks for the sample! Link to my blog with photos:
    • Nose
An extremely complex and fruity nose with lots of sweetness. Toffee, raisins, even fruit gums in the background. Super woven and with some time to breathe heavier and voluminous.
    • Taste
Here you can clearly see that it is a very old malt. In addition to the sweet-sour Aromrm of fresh grapes and plums, a slight bitter woody note comes through. In the background you can find licorice and with some time in the air dark chocolate and tar. The palate is covered completely oily.
    • Finish
Unfortunately, only a medium-length, great, very fruity finish with a slightly sour note. Takes off with aromas of grapefruit and lime. The departure is strongly reminiscent of the 1968 Glendronach, which has also been tasted.

Tasting this whisky is a spiritual experience. It comes from two casks filled in 1955 (European oak) and 1957 (American Oak), and only 500 will be released over a 10-year period. The nose is velvety-smooth and light with mango, pineapple, and passion fruit, a floral touch of rose petals, and even a subtle hint of smoke. The taste is complex, starting with a mix of orange marmalade, toffee, and figs at first, then becoming dry and herbal with hints of lavender and thyme and subtle fruitiness underneath. The finish has herbal notes, a kiss of smoke, and a touch of lemon zest. An outstanding one-of-a-kind whisky!

  4. QuarterCentury did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

This is only the second ever official bottling of Glenfiddich 50 yo, and has been created from two casks (a 1955 and a 1957 vintage) married for six months before bottling. Just 50 bottles of this will be released annually for the next ten years. Each bottle is decorated with Scottish silver and packaged in a leather box with book and certificate.
